While I see the appeal, something about turning a right into a legal mandate bugs the libertarian in me.

Would be fine...but they'd need to provide for those who can't afford a firearm.

This is unconstitutional the same as Obamacare. Forcing the citizens to buy an item. It should be provided if the government is serious.

Fighting fire with fire won't work here. Our opponents don't hold our view that people can't be compelled to buy/do things; rather, they think that the compulsory actions should be the RIGHT ones (chosen by them, naturally). Therefore when they see this, their hypocrisy isn't revealed because they're not hypocrites, they simply think that this is the wrong thing to force people to do, whereas forcing people to buy health insurance is the right thing.

What they should do is have compulsory service in the national guard for one year...then everyone keeps their firearm when they leave. :43:

I get the whole unconstitutional thing...if this is how can obama-care be ok...but since everyone and their uncle is getting exemptions or can "opt-out" to obama-care, it's gonna become mute.

This. Even my friend who describes HERSELF as an anarcho-syndicalist agrees.

If only, if only, the woodpecker sighs, / The bark on the tree was as soft as the skies. / The wolf waits below, hungry and lonely, / And cries to the moon, / If only if only.

Which is the long way of saying that Liberalism is a mental disorder.

Provided by whom?
Whence cometh the money of which you don't speak?
The .gov don't make no money. They TAKE it from...well, from people like us.

Well, if there is one thing that's constitutional, it would be the right of the government to arm militias. Forcing a purchase of a firearm is another matter.

Bingo!

On a side note.

Besides the constitional problem with the bill, it has been argued that liberalism is a mental disorder. The law doesnt recognize it as such yet.
