It takes about 20 seconds to fill out this form (http://www.capwiz.com/nra/issues/alert/?alertid=26842501).

It's part of the NRA's campaign to oppose Andrew Traver as head of ATF. (http://www.stoptraver.org/)

http://www.stoptraver.org/images/img_slogan.gif

Yes. I know that it's an appeal to your Senators.

Yes. I understand that Senators Boxer and Feinstein of California are no friends to gun owners.

Yes. I grasp that they're unlikely to be swayed by the pleas of a few gun owners.

BUT - Calguns has 50,000 members. And politicians know that for every email/letter/phone call they receive, there are more than 100 sympathizers (some say 1,000)

So, 50,000 emails aren't the entreaties of a few crazy gun nuts. It's the voice of a significant part of the population. Part of the population that's known to vote in significant numbers. Part of the population that's already been given credit for changing the makeup of Congress (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_control_policy_of_the_Clinton_Administration#A ssault_weapons_ban).

Best of all, it takes 20 seconds of your time. And it costs you nothing.

So - quick. Do it now. Click the link and send the email. It only takes 20 seconds.

"The Honorable?? Barbara Boxer :puke:

112 Hart Senate Office Building
Washington, DC 20510-0505"

Though, I wrote my own to "Blabs" editing parts to the supplied, I hit more on the ATF's Gunwalker scandal and her role in it. :D

"Senator Boxer:

I urge you to vote against confirmation of Andrew Traver as Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE).

Traver's political record proves beyond a doubt that he is CLEARLY the wrong choice you want as Director of ATF at this time, especially while "Project Gun-walker"/"Fast & Furious" is looming above you, to which you were a recipient of a letter sent and signed by 25 Senior and retired ATF Agents and Supervisors to the Judiciary to you almost 2 years ago and nothing happened about it.
By now, I'm sure you are well aware from whistleblower ATF agents, your silence on the matter has now been known by a large number of congressional constituents and main stream media news outlets such as FOX and CBS NEWS.

Barbara, to really help clean up the mess you all are in, Traver is the LAST person you want heading ATF at this time due to his position on gun rights which will have a substantial impact in further investigating possibly more future "Project Gun-walkers" by the pro-gun lobby. Your name MUST stay clear from further investigation and I STRONGLY urge you to vote against the conformation of Andrew Traver at this time. This position for him is not the best thing to do now.

Please let me know that I can count on your vote against Andrew Traver's confirmation as BATFE Director so you'll protect ATF's and your own reputation!

Sincerely,"

Dear Senators:

I understand that there will be a confirmation hearing for Andrew Traver as Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE). I am urging you to please vote against Mr. Traver's confirmation.

The Second Amendment to the United States Constitution provides: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

The United States Supreme Court has held, and reiterated that the Second Amendment is an individual right, and fundamental, as incorporated, and fully applicable to the States and Localities of the entire United States and Territories through the Fourteenth Amendment's due process clause.

I have observed that Mr. Traver has a political record which proves beyond a reasonable doubt that he is an activist who is committed to making certain that the Second Amendment is as undermined as possible, and I am positive that he will push a very serious effort to also undermine the holdings of the U.S. Supreme Court.

I would appreciate knowing that an agency appointment nomination is not a fly-by-night process, and feel that Mr. Traver's confirmation will underscore the importance of such hearings.

This, and other issues of serious importance to the U.S. Constitution is why I am counting on you to vote against the confirmation of Mr. Traver.

Erik.

"please vote against confirming Andrew Traver"

I urge you to vote against confirmation of Andrew Traver as Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE).

He lacks both the competence and the professionalism to lead a sensitive agency. As an anti-gun activist he lacks technical credibility and his appointment promises to enrage the very industry he is supposed to regulate.

Further he has no respect for the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, the Supreme Court's holdings in _Heller vs DC_ and _McDonald vs Chicago_, or my personal right to own and use firearms both in my employment and for personal protection of both myself and my loved ones.

Please let me know that as a frequent visitor to San Francisco and a resident of the San Francisco Bay Area, I can count on your vote against Andrew Traver's confirmation as BATFE Director.

I responded with another letter explaining how no gun zones are a haven for crime, Violent crime rates have risen in countries where guns have been banned, and how mass shootings, Such as Colombine (a no gun zone) could be prevented. I mentioned that I was sure she can understand my point of view since she has a CCW of her own. Got another Thank You. I think the good ones will get to her. I'm sure the bad are trashed. Every well worded letter helps! Take your time, Save it to notepad, And edit it carefully a few times. You could really help. J.

Thank you for writing to express your concern regarding the nomination of Andrew F. Traver to be Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF). I appreciate knowing your views on this matter.

President Obama first nominated Mr. Traver to lead the ATF on November 15, 2010. The 111th Congress adjourned on December 22, 2010 without considering his nomination. His nomination was resubmitted on January 5, 2011 when the 112th Congress began. Currently, Mr. Traver is the Special Agent in charge of the Chicago Field Division, and he directs all of the ATF's law enforcement programs within the State of Illinois.

I understand you have concerns regarding the views of Mr. Traver and of the International Association of Chiefs of Police on firearms policy. His nomination is pending before the Senate Judiciary Committee, of which I am a member. Please know that I will keep your thoughts in mind as the Senate considers his nomination.

Again, thank you for taking the time to contact me. Should you have further questions or comments, please feel free to contact my staff in Washington, D.C. at (202) 224-3841.

Those were the automatic email's words, now here are mine. Traver has proven over and over again that he is not interested in reducing crime or even keeping people safe, his goal is to reduce gun ownership and the places they can be carried, regardless of what the science and studies show about the statistically-equal-to-zero effect firearm laws have on crime. We do not need a NON-elected official with a personal agenda. He has used dishonest tactics in the past to spread fear about firearms. Do not approve him. You can count on this - your vote for Traver is MY vote against you in your next race.

Sincerely yours,

Dianne Feinstein
United States Senator

Yes - I know that she probably won't be influenced by my opinion - but at least she (and others) know we're watching, involved and active.

Even a canned response is worth something. It means that they saw the email.

50,000 of them and they'll think twice about introducing new legislation.

I VERY strongly urge you to vote against confirmation of Andrew Traver as Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE).

Traver's political record proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that he is a committed anti-self-defense activist who has no respect for my personal right to own and use firearms to protect life and limb, nor for the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution which protects that right.

The right to keep and bear arms derives very strongly from the right to self defense. And the right to self defense derives directly from the right to life. Without the right to keep and bear arms, we have no means to exercise in any meaningful way our right to self defense, and therefore no longer have the means to properly uphold our right to life. This is why the right to keep and bear arms, most especially firearms, is so immensely important. Traver has shown that he cares nothing for that, and is therefore not fit to hold any position where he has the power to compromise the people's right to effective self defense. It would be an affront to the very principles this country stands for if he were to hold such a position.

Therefore, please let me know that I can count on your vote against Andrew Traver's confirmation as BATFE Director.

Of course, I won't get anything more than a form letter back, and I'm sure the above will be stuffed into the circular file. But hey, if it helps the cause, who am I to complain? :D

it took me a week to get my "i don't give a F&@$ what you care" email back.

I want to write back and ask how many messages she has received in support of Traver and how many expressing concern. I bet none in support, yet she will disregard all of our concerns and "do what she thinks is best for us"....

I got the reply. I think we should write back and ask how many letters did she receive for both support and concern. I believe that even stubborn people can have second thoughts. It is our freedom of speech to have our opinions, and our freedom to try to convince others to share our view. Write back! :)

here's my response to Feinstein.....

Dear Senator Feinstein,

I appreciate your response to my letter in reference to the nomination of Andrew Traver.

As you are aware my letter was a form letter supported by several Second Amendment Rights Groups.

I have to say that my take on your response letter is that you're not going to consider our opinion when participating in the confirmation for Mr. Traver.

I'm curious, how many people have contacted you with their concerns about Mr. Traver? How many have expressed concerns and how many have supported his nomination?

Will you vote for or against his confirmation based upon input from your constituents or will you just vote along party lines?
I have to say the more I read and watch the news about our Government I have to say that I feel partisan politics has gotten in the way of legislators representing their constituents.

I honestly hope that you take into consideration all of the correspondence you have received on this matter when casting your vote to represent your constituents in the State of California. If you don't, shame on you.

Regards,
