There is a lip in there keeping the detent from fitting. I tried two different detents.

Isn't that to catch the lip on the detente to keep it from falling all the way through?

Are you putting it in pointy end first? From the bottom, under the grip?

i dont think that lip is to keep it from falling out on all the ARs i have built if you take the selector switch out the detent falls through

to the OP that sucks but it looks like you are going to have to drill/ dremel it out be careful dot to make the hole any bigger

That's weird, what is the lip on the detente for?
Also, I have two McKay Ind. lowers and one JD Machine lower and none of those allow the detente to fall all the way through.

Be careful about removing something that the manufacturer put in. It might be there for a reason.

i have wondered why the detent is shaped like that too but i know on my CMMG the pin will fall through the hole
+1 an the being careful about removing something that the manufacturer put in

That lip is supposed to be there.

I took the selector out and the detent went in fine. So I put the selector back in and the detent was fine again. Odd tried several times before, even wiggling the lower and the detent. Then it just works.

that lip holds the pin in. You can hold the safety lever between safe and fire and pull it out without the pin shooting out...at least you SHOULD be able to.
