Got my tax return so its time to buy a barrel and BCG for the Ma-Ten. I have been waiting very very impatiently for this for 3-4 months. So I go to blackholeweaponry website and they now have 2 options for barrels!!!

I don't know which one to get,
Mid length gas tube

Or
Rifle length

I google searched and found a couple good threads on this from other forums but I want some CG input. Rifle length will make it a softer shooter but I have a standard 308 A2 stock/buffer/spring should I run into any issues?

WWCGD?

I would go rifle length gas system on a 18" barrel.. you will not run into any issues, with the buffer system your going to be running..

My rifle length runs fine with the same set up(exception is the ACE skeleton stock but same buffer tube), on a 18" barrel.

Midlength FTW.

It will be lighter because your rail wont have to be as long. If it was going to be a sniper setup with a longer barrel, then I'd say absolutely get a rifle length gas system. But being that it's an SPR build (medium range but with mobility), weight is a consideration.

Plus I think that long of a rail on that short of a barrel looks funky, IMO. I realize this is fully an opinion, but there you have it.

hmmm I had already planned on a 13.8" rail so the weight might not be too bad, I think the 13.8" vs the 12" is miniscule in weight diff.

For that price, I'd get a WOA barrel instead. I wouldn't worry about the gas length unless I wanted to have the rails cover the gas block, in which case you'll have to decide how much rail length you want on your rifle first. If you're going with a 13.8" rail, I see no reason not to get a rifle length.

WOA doesn't have any .308 barrels on the website I'm assuming you have to call? I have heard lots of good things about them, and also heard lots of good stuff about black hole.

As far as I can tell with no mag like pictures, under 10lbs. But that's with me holding it, on and off the scale etc. Not exactly precise but I haven't ever had a difference of more then 10lbs
