I'm looking for a .22lr double action revolver, but I cant seem to find any locally here (that are reasonably priced) I've only seen smith and wessons that are $800. What are my options?

The older H&R 929s are inexpensive and pretty rugged. There are the S&W 63 kit guns for around 550, if you can find one. Sometimes a S&W 17 would come around for cheap but dont expect it to be a 98% gun. I don't have any experience with Rossi & Taurus so I can't comment on them.
Good Luck!! 22 revolvers are a blast to shoot.

There is a Dan Wesson in the market place now. Seller posts WTT but cash is king sometimes....I have a Dan Wesson and have shot over a case thru ot in 20 years and it looks Great. It's never been to a shop!

They have a nice board of fare and their quality is quite high. My wife has one of their .357 revolvers. She shoots it like a champ. Note the capacity............
it's NINE!

Well, that is the sh-ts to say the least. I didn't even think to check. Thanks for the info as much as it hurts.

FWIW, a 617 is in the neighborhood of $660-680 from Bud's Gun Shop if that is of any help.

Those old double 9's are still around to be had for under $350.... and the buntline/longhorn version was kind of cool...

and the Arminus guns are actually pretty decent... IIRC those are sub $200

I've always been partial to the top break .22's as well...

No, that belongs to a friend of mine, but he's giving it to me because he doesn't want it. He's not much of a gun guy and doesn't want it to deteriorate any more than it has over the years.

+1 High Standard Double 9 has been my favorite 22 revolver for years.

You can find really nice 5 and 4 screw pre-17's and pre-18's S&W K22's sometimes for $550-650. I've picked up 4 in that price range in the last year. Extremely nice revolvers. I like the balance on them better than on my 617 and prefer the blueing and diamond grips also.

yeah the major bummer is unless its a SAO wheel gun of certain size it's gotta go be rostered. I thought the Taurus Tracker was rostered but it may have expired or I was mistaken. There are ways to ease the spur leaf spring on SAO, most are ridiculously over powered. I did some temper reduction in the spur spring on my rough rider. 100% reliable but an easy cocking tension that allows rapid shooting. I wouldn't try it again though, would have a qualified smith do it. Heritage in 9 shots is a sweet setup. dump the safety bar, chamber 8 and partial cock on the empty chamber.
