10 Day wait over and when I got home with the rifle my scope had just arrived via UPS -- (BTW, the third time that has happened with my last three rifles)

Ruger Gunsite Scout rifle in .308

Did we confirm these are the same as AI mags?

Great looking gun. Ive been looking at these for a while but no one has one that I can handle and I hate buying things unseen.

I bought it off the pics posted here -- gun ACTUALLY looks and handles better in real life than it photographs...

I know the extra weight goes against the point of the scout rifle, but this gun would look so cool with the wooden fore end going out to the flash suppressor like a modern lee-enfield style. And of course a giant sword-bayonet to go with it... ;)

Is the eye relief on that scope about 12"? I would hope so..

I think every time I come on here, I find X-NewYawker with a new gun. I can only imagine the size of your safe.

Oh BTW, nice gun!

Small safe -- I only keep the ones I like!

These are sweet little rifles. I picked one up from Bud's the last time they were in stock. Unfortunately I'm cursed with being left handed and the bolt just doesn't fit right with me. Its weird, because I don't seem to have the same problem with my Mosins.

The plan is to sell it and wait for the LH version. Hopefully Ruger doesn't take forever to get them out.

Zombies.

I think of it as my survival rifle. Hopefully get it to Angeles Sunday (on terrible work deadline)

I like the rifle except for that ugly flash hider they put on it.

That's the Easiest part -- did you see ADDAX' post in the original Scout thread?
It can be replaced by ANY 5/8-24 thread muzzle device. I have a shorty Surefire MB/Suppressor adaptor I'm slapping on before I go to the range.

I missed that. That will make the gun so much better.

x-newyawker knows how to buy classy rifles.

Between him and Oaklander, I am always getting showed up.

Thanks for the kind words, but I actually picked this Ruger because it WASN'T classy -- just looked like a rugged trunk gun. And cheap, compared to a Steyr scout...

Here you go.
The PWS FSC30 comp does really make a difference in reducing muzzle rise vs. the standard flash suppressor.

We have the Ruger Scout up on our website, and you can order either the PWS FSC30 comp, or the Battlecom BABC in the Customization section:

sorry for bringing up an older thread but I was wondering how this rifle shoots/handles if any of you guys who had just bought them had time to hit the range

X-NewYawker

With the miserable weather, no. And I'm not shooting mine until Addax puts a muzzle brake on it.

I cant decide between this or the LMT 308. If I buy this I can afford some classy glass, if I buy the LMT I'll throw on glass in the $500 range. Decisions...
