View Full Version : Need help disassembling 10/22 25rd magazine

Its about 20 years old and jams up when I put over 20rds in it so I figured I would clean it. Only problem is I have no idea how to get it apart. Where there is normally a screw on the Ruger 10rd mags this one is solid. Any tips on getting this apart and back together?

butler creek mags are sonic welded

ps the one pictured is the metal lip one

i prefer the hot lips all mine are pushing 16 years old

some say you can just smash it open carefully in a vice with a hammer and repair it with a tactical innovations kit spring, follower ,feedlips are compatible(minor fitting may be required)

what ammo are you using ?

try some fed 550 pack they seem to be fairly clean

try some compressed air

i would never use any cleaning fluids in there

good luck

Really hot soapy water, dunk it in and shake up. It will get most of the gunk out, it will require you to blow it out with compressed air to dry. As bohoki said they are plastic welded, any attempt to use chemicals in it will result in cracking and/or separation.

As far as I know this is the only practical way to clean them. Good luck.
