Hi all,

Are there any retailers who still stock either the FN49 or the Hakim milsurp rifles? If not, any suggestions on where to look (e.g. message boards, gunbroker, etc.)

What's a reasonable price before tax/fees/shipping?

Thanks

Hmm. Silence is supposed to be golden, but it comes across as rather ominous. I take it these are somewhat difficult to find?

Mama mia! After looking at gunbroker, I'm pretty sure that kind of money could pay for a Garand or a good chunk of a .223 rifle. Is $6xx-1xxx a fairly average price range?

Hakims can usually be found for 300-400 if you look. The FN 49 can cost in the 500-600 range. Check the on line auctions or gun forums. Yes you can get a rack or field grade from the CMP for possibily cheaper.

The 8mm Egyptians tend to go for around $500-800. The last 30-06 I checked out on Gunbroker went for $1200. I've also seen 7mm Venezuelans go in the $800-1000 range. I've only seen them on the on-line auction places and gun shows and never at any of the local stores here in Sacramento; if they do show up they're not lasting very long. Good luck.

I own a couple of Vene 49's.

Beautiful rifles, I would spend my money on a 49 before a Hakim.

I have owned Hakims and they are fun to shoot, but they are big heavy beasts of a rifle compared to a FN49.

Always check Gunbroker, Auction Arms and Guns America.

They pop up allot, especially the Egyptian contract 8mm 49's (approx. 32,000 mfg). You can pick up a really nice, excellent one for about $650-$800, shooters will run about $500.

Venezuelan 49's pop up less (since only 8000 were mfg), shooters will run you about $600-$700, collector pieces will run from $900-$1500. These shoot 7mm Mauser, harder to find ammo.

The 30.06 49's (Belgian, Luxemborg contracts) show up less and can run you up to $1000 for a good condition, shooter, $1000+ for a collector grade..

Good Luck...

These are old suplus rifles. There is no manufacturer>distributor>retailer chain that you can follow to find one. So, there are no dealers who "stock" them.

Your best bet is to check your local consignment stores, gunbroker, auctionarms, and gunsamerica, as well as all of the C&R boards to jump on one when you see it.

How much do they sell for? Depends on condition, and how much someone thinks thier rifle is worth parting with, and what the market will bear. Prices for an identical sample could vary $300-$400 depending on who, where and when.

Not every Milsurp rifle is a $79.95 M44 from Big 5.

I woulda bought a Arg Navy 7.62 but AIM(IIRC) wouldn't ship to CA, even though it was legal. They had 'em a couple of years ago for ~$700.
They went fast.

Needs a bit of work but great for the price. I'd been looking for this for awhile and snagged it when I could at this price.

Have a great Kenpo day

I saw a Venezuelan-contract 8x57 FN49 a while ago at Martin B. Retting (Culver City) for $6xx dollars, in the used rack. 100% blueing, good stock, I liked it. Much better than the Hakim it was next to.

I shall make it a point to look at those FN49s later.

If it was Vene then it was 7mm. They weren't made in 8mm, the Egyptian ones were. If it was a Vene for $600 you should have grabbed it. That's a good deal.

there is a Hakim here:

$429

Stock looks sanded and stained - but maybe that's the picture.

There are a couple of Hakims for sale on the Gunboard trader now.
