Well it'll have a date stamp on it....like 5/06.....7/05 etc.....
If not than who knows when it was made.......

There is basically no way to prove when the magazine was made. It is legal to replace the body of a magazine with a new body (even one marked mil/LEO only.)
Date stamps really mean nothing.

Yes.
And you don't need to keep your old parts, though it isn't a bad idea.
(use the search function if you have other mag questions, it has been gone over many times).

I do know I have more than I'm willing to sit and count, and I don't think I've ever had all my mags in the same spot at one time... lol

I have a large stock of magazines but Bill has me beat.:D
Traded MREs for magazines while I was in SW Asia, came up with some pretty cool stuff back in 96 including some pretty cool Pink Floyd and AC/DC live CDs.
The Saudis had brand new gear but for teh life of me I cant remember what kind of subguns they had when we were staging classes in the desert, I think they were swedish "K"s but I will have to ask around to see if they even had those.

Nahhh, Not really. Smart man IMO; and I can say I bought before the ban for weapons I even had no intention of immediately buying....put me into SERIOUS debt but just think about it....even with 10 different weapons at 10 mags for each you're already at 100 mags..... 10 mags aint a lot IMO if you're buying for a lifetime of mags & fun and unsure what DOJ woulda been doin' next. If ol Bill said he *only* had 175 mags THEN I'd be surprised;) Some of us ~not too young & not yet too old~ really did stock up on quite a few mags......

Yeah, I bought my 16rnd Walther P99 mags before I had the pistol... I've a a dozen or so Beretta 92FS 15rnders and no Beretta to use them... probably 7 or 8 Beretta 84 13rnders... When I bought a bunch of 10/22 25rnders I didn't have a 10/22... don't anymore, but still keeping the mags.
But then I was also buying AR, AK, M1A, BM59, HK91/G3 and Valmet M76 mags before the ban too, but luckily I bought most of my M1A and BM mags in 96-98, when prices were 'free America prices', though they were still a lot of money... Prices for some of my mags were high a year before there was any high-cap ban.... $75-$100 a mag for my BM and $125+ a mag for my Galil .308 and Valmet mags...
The month before the ban, I sold off a LOT of mags at the SJ gun show... I was getting $200 for my east german drums, I had like 6 of them, and the east german mag pouches with mags for $125. I must have sold 40 or 50 mags before the ban to buy mags for other stuff I needed.

I can tell ya' I went kinda "heavy" on Military rifle mags, but even went for some oddball pistol ones (anyone remember the 30 rounders for Tarus, Beretta's, 1911's etc???? LOL!) Bought the crappy/older USA mags for a LOT of odd balls like a 25 rounder for a AMT backup!!!!!. I totally maxed one credit card on nothing but USP mags and HK 91 mags RIGHT before they skyrocketed in price. I shoulda done what you did and sold some off right before the ban~ coulda made a fortune and re-couped my self-imposed hi debt. Since ya' mentioned drums...that unfortunately is where I crapped out~ only getting a very few german ((IIRC? Maybe Yugo)) and russian ones and a couple more chinese. But soooooo much of that stuff is soooo friggin' buried a burgler would be a lot more apt to steal grandma's old rocking chair before they got deep enough to find most of that stash LOL!
