unlike the Sig556, the Sig522 is one of the best reliable (with most 22lr ammo) in the Industry next to the Ruger 1022... all other tactical types (Colt, M&P, etc..) are finicky

awesome, how many different types of ammo did you try? No BS please, I've had the S&W 15-22 and it sucks with win wildcats, thunderbolts and BVar. read the post, I said finicky, so some ammo it will perform well, others it sucks, the Sig 522 and 1022 are the only 22 rifles I know to function will all ammo.

I'd even venture to say the 522 is more reliable than the 10/22. That has been my experience thus far at the local .22 matches each month. I will see at least 4 or 5 choke-ups on nicer ammo (fed match, sometimes minimags) with 10/22's each match. While my 522 is a total glutton for the cheap remington and federal bulk packs at walmart.

I found that stock 10/22 eat just about anything, but with most aftermarket barrels w/ a Bentz type chamber can start to FTF @1k rounds. Over lubing can also cause premature malfunctions/gumming. Best solution is to see what your rifle likes best. I try to get the most bang for my buck for range sessions that functions in everything I have, but I found that Federal Target Match ultra reliable, groups very tightly, and is still very cheap to buy.

I tried Federal 550 and CCI's. I would say I have put less than 100CCIs through it, and 30 boxes of Federals.

I really want to pick one up.
Have you tried yours with Winchester Xpert ammo? Only reason I ask is because my 10/22 hates the stuff as does my 22/45.

My Sig 522 ate Federal Bulk, Remington Bulk, CCI Blazer Bulk, but chokes now and then with Winchester Bulk.

(L) is off of a Sig 556 (Fish Gill) (no mods need/direct replacement) You can find them in the BST for @ 35.00 or with the matching retractable stock for @ 50.00

(R) is the factory Swat rail. Star does make a nice full aluminum picatinny rail for 160.00. Only available from Brownells.
