CA DOJ told me that the state of California does not regualte suppressors (just Federally regulated)...I thought I saw in CA P.C. something about suppressors? Can someone clarify this for me?

Upon second reading of your post, someone at DOJ was being a wiseass - 'they don't regulate them' because they barred ownership of them.

Lol, yeah. They're not regulated, they're illegal.

Yup typical answer from DOJ. They knew what question you were asking them but because you didn't word it correctly they gave you a wrong(well technically right but morally wrong) answer. Always nice to see your tax-dollars at work defending you isn't it?

Ah, yes. I get the impression that the DOJ's favorite movie is "Wishmaster". I will say though, I love that movie.

California won't even let you have a rifle with a pistol grip on it. Why would they permit anyone to own a silencer? Folks, I know wishful thinking is fun but most of the laws in this state you don't have to even know you can guess at them.
The way I stay in compliance is I ask myself this question:
"Would it be cool or fun to have [item]"?
If the answer is "yes" then it has already been banned years ago :(!

Sadly, that is true.
Ironically in other parts of the world, like the UK, silencer usage is encouraged due to very strong OSHA type laws.

Maybe we need to contact OSHA about citing CADOJ for endangering our hearing and not allowing proper safety equipment.:D :D

Be careful what you ask for, OSHA may also find that the smoke coming from the barrel of a gun is hazardous, and anyone handling one must be a registered hazardous material handler prior to owning bullets.

Get a 07 manufacturers FFL, or a 01 dealers FFL + SOT stamp, and you can have them without California permits... (there is no CA suppressor permit).

Yah, cuz you'll have more luck with that hahaha.
Getting an 07/FFL isn't hard from the BATF, the zoning/security/insurance requirments from DOJ are amazing tho...

Suppressors are so very expensive: I'm kind of glad they aren't Cali legal. I'd be broke if they weren't!

Not that I'm aware of.

They're fairly inexpensive, you can get one for $400-$800. That's pretty cheap, IMO.

Shoot, with a legal tax stamp in a free state you could make a .22LR suppressor for around $40.00
Centerfire for about $200 or so, if you paid someone to do the machine work. If you owned your own lathe you could make them all day really cheap.
They go for about $30-100US in Finland where they are legal at Wal-Mart type stores :D
