I have a buddy that is desperately looking for a deal on a new/used MSAR STG E4. We seem to have trouble finding them for less than $1800. Anybody seen a place in Cali with them? Or does anybody know an CA friendly out-of-state dealer?

Thanks!

I thought only the STG-556's were at the low 1,000s. For the E4 they average around 1600, still way below your 1800 target zone.

Also, at the moment it appears that ratworx is out of E4's in 5.56. However, they are very competitively price and very CA friendly. I would recommend them to your friend.

I have been looking at the msar for a while now. The cheapest I've seen the e4 is about 1600 so of you're around riflegear that's a decent deal. I'm going to call microtech and see how much the e4 conversion kit is. The stg is under a grand so patience may pay off. If not I'd point him in the direction of riflegear.

Where can you find them for under $1k?

I saw a listing on Gunbroker for one for $1050. The lister was Azroadrunners. I asked them if they were willing to modify and ship the gun to CA and I got a yes :) Naturally, I jumped on the deal seeing as local dealers were asking $1900. We gave our local dealers chances to price match but they refused :/. Oh well, at least we tried.

Like I said in the before post, Azroadrunners is the screen name of Roadrunner Gunsmithing LLC of Arizona. I bought it from them online. They were very helpful.

I dunno what it is about the AZ dealers but they seem to be really CA friendly :)

Did you get an e4 or stg for that price?

How are they making it CA-legal? Are they shipping the rifle disassembled or are they installing the raddlock for you?

Also, I've been reading that a special tool is needed to disassemble the stock mag catch (in order to install the raddlock). Is this still the case?

I asked about 6 sellers on GB is they would ship to CA before I purchased. 2 said yes, one was cheaper.

Its being shipped here in parts. At first he was going to install the BB for us, then he just decided to ship it split in half. I don't know anything about installing the BB. We will tackle that challenge when it presents itself. lol.

I looked at what Im guessing is the auction you mentioned. it says its the stg 556 not the e4. also the picture is of the stg 556 not the e4. not the worst price but not the best if that is the case.

The E4 uses a proprietary screw bit that has three holes in it so most dealers and end-users cannot install the Raddlock themselves. I'm not sure if the STG uses the same bit though. We have one of the bits, however. There isn't as much demand for the STG since the E4 came out so that is probably why they are so much cheaper. We only stock the E4 these days.

Solar Tactical makes a grip wrap for this thing so you can make it featureless (got to change out the flash hider also with a muzzle brake). I went this way rather than dealing with the mag lock, which has a strange microtech bolt head.
