A stripped JD lower is 3 grams heavier then a Spikes Tactical stripped lower.
I'll post some pics later pointing out the 3 minuscule differences I found in the 2 lowers.

I think the "hump" is milled off to accommodate the additional parts to work with the 3 position selector on the Spikes.

The only difference I see that is worth mentioning is the difference in the mag well bevel. JD Machine made a point to add a nice bevel and widen the mouth of their mag wells where that extra beefy aluminum wasn't necessary.

Dude I'm just showing the minuscule differences between the 2 lowers that are most recommended by calgunners. Don't get ur panties in a bunch now..!

But what's the point?
Spikes are cheap and jd is local that's why they are recommended.

After seeing the magwell, I wouldn't buy a Spikes. Thx. That's why I like Mega and DD so much.

What's wrong with the mag well.
The spikes finish looks better too. Less anodizing flaws

not to mention.. and i'm sure i will get attacked for this.. but the JD logo.. doesn't look.. like something of the male genitalia..

02-26-2011, 5:30 PM
Haha. Are you saying the spikes spider looks like cock n balls.?

RONIN.
02-26-2011, 5:45 PM
umm.. not cock n balls.. but. if you look closely.. it looks like two cocks ejaculating..

nothing against spikes tactical.. they make great products.. have great customer service.. but the logo.. is questionable... or "freudian" as the wife said..

so i will stick to my JD machine lowers.. for there LOGO is not questionable or FREUDIAN..

Point is, coupled with a lightweight kiss upper, his build will be hella light yo!! ;):D

Some rude comments above, anyway. I like the milling on the Spikes but the JD does have a nicer bevel.

Took me a while but i see what you're saying with the Spike's logo. Looks like two "members" arching together to pinch the spiders head. I'm not a fan of most logo's though, I really did want one of those JD-less cross-hairs JD had for a minute.

Putting weight aside Spike seems to put more attention to detail. To me that shows quality. Nice clean lines.
