Heading to up to Oregon. Thinking of buying an AR 15 upper while up there. Probably a BCM.

Any good shops (with great prices) in the Portland area, or not to far off the I-5?

Thanks for any information.

If you want a BCM, your choices are

this one (http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/) in Eugene
this one here (http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/) in Corvallis
or
this one (http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/) in Roseburg

;)

Good one. LOL.

What's funny is that I was looking at that exact website before I posted on here.

I like the instant gratification of leave a store with item in hand. Not waiting on the UPS or FedEx guy.

Plus, don't want to pay shipping.

Or sales tax. Oregon doesn't have state sales tax.

I was just up there a couple weeks ago. I checked out the gunbroker place in Tigard and NW Armory. Gunbroker in Tigard didn't even want to talk to me when I said I was from CA and the guys at NW Armory were very friendly and had a great selection! I'd check them out first. http://www.nwarmory.com/

I'm not sure if you'll have any issues buying just an upper without being an OR resident or not. Please post here so I know for my next trip.

The only problem you're likely to have is attitude if you tell anybody you're from California. No legal issues though.

Slightly off topic, but I have been living and visiting Oregon since 1972, and the only people I have ever gotten the "Californicator" attitude from, have been from California!
Southern Oregon in the early 70's was a fun place to be for a teen-ager.

Good luck on your quest.

How are your going to cash and carry a firearm? Are you an Oregon resident? If not, it would be illegal for an Oregon FFL to sell you a gun without complying with Ca laws which include going through a Ca FFL and waiting 10 days. I'm talking about Federal laws here. So, don't go asking an OOS FFL to break Federal law for you!

i thought uppers were not considered firearms until they are placed on a lower?

Uppers are fine but complete rifles you won't leave the state with one. 99% of the shops up in Northern Oregon will not sell you a complete free state AR15 with a California ID. I have my California DL and the only thing that allows me to purchase one is I have a residence here.

If you are military with orders in hand and residence here you can buy one as well.

You will pay sales tax with your California ID. Washington doesn't care and some of Oregon doesn't care. I paid tax in Washington for my Colt 6940. They didn't care that I lived in Oregon with proof of residence. Oregon residents do not pay tax. Since they ask for your zip or ID you will more than likely still pay tax.

I would just buy one online from your home there in California. Not really worth it to come up here and go home disappointed. I am not trying to be a jerk. Just a reality check. Most of my parts I buy online and I live in Oregon. Guns I buy in Washington.
