Hey guys. I am new to this site but from what I have read you guys really do a good job of helping each other out. So here is my situation. I am a CA resident and I want to buy a desert eagle, the stainless steel variation not the black one. The problem is that the black one is the only one listed on the DOJ website for sale in CA. I am under the impression that if you buy a used gun it does not have to comply with the CA DOJ list, that the list only applies to new guns. Is this true? Can I legally buy the SS one from a friend who lives in OR if I go through a CA FFL even if it is not listed on the DOJ website? Thanks for thoughts.

nope, you can't do a PPT transfer with an out-of-state seller. The DROS software won't allow it. Any handgun you purchase from him would need to be on the roster, or in a single-shot roster-exempt configuraitons.
