This is my affordable AR-15. I was on a budget so I got what worked at the time. It has been fired once with just over 100 rounds through it, and I have modded it heavily since then. It is made up currently of the following:

- Smith & Wesson Lower Receiver
- DPMS Lower Parts Kit
- Hogue Pistol Grip
- DPMS Buffer Tube Assembly(Commercial)
- Magpul MOE Stock(Commercial)
- 2 10/20 Magpul Pmags With Bullet Button Tool
- Prince 50 Bullet Button
- DPMS Sportical Upper Reciever Assembly w/ A1 Flash Hider
- Osprey International Quad Rail System (Carbine)
- Tapco Forward Grip
- DPMS Front Screw On Sight
- Bushnell Trophy T Retical Red Dot Sight

Also in the picture:
- Center Point 3x-9 Scope
- Bushmaster Carry Handle Back Sight
- Remington 55gr .223 Ammo (For looks haha)

This was my first AR build. It was pretty cheap and the rifle works fine. After the first time I fired it I found what improvements it needed and got them accordingly. Tell me what you think.

Cheap and works fine, and as long as you are happy with it and able to get you shooting, good for you!

It's more high speed, low drag and aerodynamic that way.

Define "cheap" "affordable"?

Well if you price the gun at its current state without counting the parts I took off its $939. But at the begining it cost me $700 for a working rifle. Over some time I have been adding to it so it has gotten to be more expensive. So if you count that it's an affordable cheap rifle. If you add in the cost of a similar rifle with higher grade parts it would cost easily $100 more.

Update: The origional rifle before mods cost me $720.

you dont need Noveske, Larue, or any of thoose other high dollar AR mfg's and high end parts to have a fun range plinker.

Well I took it to the range today, had a very fun time with it, but a problem from the first time I shot it came back even after modding it. Last time I shot it, it had feeding issues and after last round was fired the bolt wouldnt stay open like it should. It wouldnt catch after final shot. So people told me it was probably my cheap mag I was using, so I went out and bought Pmags( which are amazing!). The feeding issue was solved but one problem still remains, my bolt is not staying back after last round is fired. Any ideas on why? Its concerning me.

I must always be "on a budget" because I don't see the benefit in dumping over 700 bucks on an AR15 for about 80% of situations.

Nice rifle.

does your bolt release move freely?

does your bolt release move freely?

It moves when I press it. Its pretty easy to press.

i'd put the front sight on the same side the carry handle knobs are

and take if off if carry handle is off

you can even store them on the side of your rail system

I really really like the Bushnell Trophy T Retical Red Dot Sight. I bought mine about 4 months ago and have been extremely happy with it. I also like that my iron sights line up exactly through the center of it. One thing I would do differently at some point is to get a cheap folding front sight to get it down out the picture when using the red dot.

Looks good. ENJOY!!

Thanks! Yeah I love the trophy red dot, it looks good, and functions perfectly. Only problem is in high light the center dot is hard to see, but you can use the three lines to get a good guess to where it is. And I plan to get Magpul flip up front and back sights for it.
