Recently my husband was taken on a 5150 hold and three guns were taken from our property. In the possession paperwork, the officer wrote down the wrong serial number as well as the wrong number of guns taken from the property. The city attorney said that they were going to ask the city to run the serial numbers again, but according to our paperwork the numbers are mismatched. Is there a way to run the serial numbers ourselves?

Not good, it demonstrates their lack of credibility, not good for the prosecution if defense can show that, you'd have to get some other agency to run the number though, an attorney should have a contact somewhere outside that same county to check with

You could do the reverse: Find out what is actually registered to the both of you.

Can I get a list of the firearms for which I am listed as the purchaser, transferee, or owner?

Yes. To obtain a list of firearms listed in your name, complete and submit an Automated Firearms System Records Request [PDF 21 kb / 1 pg] form to the Automated Firearms Unit, P.O. Box 820200, Sacramento, CA 94203-0200. The letter must be signed, notarized, and include a photocopy of your photo ID card (ie., driver's license or DMV ID).
