View Full Version : Paul Helmke - Market Manipulator?

The Brady Campaign is slowly drowning. Donations are down. It's 2 top officers take more than a half million dollars a year in salary - and with all of their zipping around the country, who knows what their expenses are....

Even the Better Business Bureau says that the Brady Campaign doesn't meet standards for charity accountability. (http://www.bbb.org/charity-reviews/national/law-and-public-interest/brady-center-to-prevent-gun-violence-in-washington-dc-1136)

At the same time, the mere mention of new gun control measures usually causes gun (and accessory) sales to spike. (http://www.istockanalyst.com/article/viewarticle/articleid/4866190) It's a common sight to see a framed picture of President Obama in a gun store over a "Salesman of the Year" plaque.

It would be an easy thing for Messrs. Helmke and Hennigan to purchase a couple thousand shares of Smith and Wesson (http://www.marketwatch.com/investing/stock/SWHC), then announce some new harebrained scheme to ban ... "assault revolvers"....

Anyone notice as soon as Bernake says he's pumping a trillion dollars into the economy the price of oil immediately goes up? Yeah, it's cuz everyone knows you invest in commodities when you know inflation will be an issue, and what's the most used commodity??

So yeah, if I were him, I'd invest in S&W too. Cause and effect.

Those pictures are everywhere in NV, AZ, UT. I don't recall seeing one in a gunstore in CA though. Is BHO so popular with CA gun owners the shops don't want to take a chance of giving offense?

I saw the Obama Gun Salesman of the year picture in a shop in Louisville KY last week when I was traveling.

From the BBB report"
"Standard 7: Board Approval of Written Report on Effectiveness - Submit to the organization's governing body, for its approval, a written report that outlines the results of the aforementioned performance and effectiveness assessment and recommendations for future actions.

Brady Center does not meet this Standard because:

* It did not produce a written report outlining the results of its most recent effectiveness assessment."

Can't imagine why they would not want to publish a report to document their complete lack of effectiveness. :43:

They could just use your sig line for their report.

“The last two years have been a disaster for us,” said Representative Carolyn McCarthy, a New York Democrat and a longtime advocate of increased gun control.

1. Buy shares of gunmakers
2. Engage in alarmism and demagoguery: reverse psychology

Seems like a good moneymaking plot to me.

I thought they were all over CA too... they're at the gun store I go too most, here in OC, and I think I've seen it in the other store I go to often also.
Maybe it's not as frequent in other counties?

What I want to know is, how did the OP get a picture of my gun?

It's for home defense! Of COURSE I have a red dot, illuminator, and tac laser on it. I also have it loaded with six different kinds of ammunition:
1) Silver Hollowpoint (for werewolves)
2) Kurare (or however you spell it) neuro-toxin gel round
3) Radio tracking grapnel round
4) Blank round
5) Rocksalt .410 round
6) Explosive Heat Seeking round

Also, it has a bipod and a sling.

Basically, the Brady campaign takes in a bit less than $3 million.

Helmke's pay is about $1/4 million.

So... 1/12 of everything that the Brady campaign takes in goes directly into Helmke's pocket.

How is this different from the disaster groups that use the majority of the donations for "administrative costs"?

They're losing the war on guns because their leaders are self-serving crooks that are looking to either line their pockets or doing it for political gain.

Bloomberg is looking to "build a legacy" or use it as a platform for his presidential bid.

Except he doesn't seem to realize that the majority of Americans SUPPORT gun rights.

Note the 40+ states that have Shall Carry laws v.s. WI, IL, & D.C.

NY & CA may be bastions of liberal anti-gunnery, but even in those states people can get CCW.

Some CA anti-gun politicians that work to ban guns from the general populace any way they can will have a CCW issued to themselves... though they may be the only one allowed to have one.

One even tried to gain a federal CCW exemption so she could carry in D.C.!

We had one up, but the panic is over and he needs to actually get Congress to propose some new legislation to get the panic ball rolling again.

Obama could use the poster for his campaign in 2012. Maybe speak at the NRA Convention. The picture on the poster was quite nice (no Hitler mustache or "Joker" face paint).

This I want to see!

I suspect that it isn't something that S&W wants to see in the long run. Sure, their sales might spike briefly, but once it came out that the Brady Bunch was purchasing their shares, it would be the 1990s all over again.

"Why are the Bradys buying Smith & Wesson?" They must be just about to roll over on gun rights....

What's the big hub-bub about how much ex-Mayor Paul Helmke makes... Wayne LaPierre makes over $700k per year not counting perks.

http://www.washingtonian.com/print/articles/11/155/12389.html

Wayne LaPierre, National Rifle Association, $731,184.

I bet he's not living paycheck to paycheck.

In a way, the NRA is like the nationwide militia against crime. On the other hand, Paul Helmke leads the nation's criminals, and is complicit in countless murders, rapes, maimings, and lesser violent crimes. That Helmke earns 1 cent doing what he does instead of being imprisoned in a desert or arctic labor camp for the rest of his life is a massive injustice.

Good point. I hadn't looked at it like that.

LaPierrre makes more than $1mil. But he doesn't have the opportunity to make markets like Helmke does.

Helmke can call for a ban on Glocks and the market responds with a purchasing frenzy because people want to get something before they're told that they can't have it anymore.

Helmke has that influence. LaPierre doesn't.

Wayne LaPierre actually contributes something beneficial to our society. That's probably an understatement. The fact that Paul Helmke gets payed anything for victim disarmament is an outrage.
