I can go that is within a reasonable distance from Los Angeles to "target shoot". I will primarily be using rifles to target shoot and plink at intermediate distances. I know some BLM land will allow this but I really need a heavy and obvious push in the right direction (exact locations, how far, etc) Thanks in advance, sorry for being such a newb. :(

Thanks for help, but im really just looking for an "out the open" kind of setting, which will be on BLM land most likely. I already have been to most if not all the shooting ranges around Los Angeles. Anyone else?

Lucerne Valley off of Hwy 247/Barstow Rd. in Barstow...

Take 15fwy north, exit Hwy 247 (Barstow Rd). Make a right at the exit, head SOUTH on 247/Barstow Rd.

Shooting area is about 2-3 miles after the dump. You'll go thru a couple curves in the road and get dropped into a little valley. Make a left at the first set of power line roads. Drive down the pwer line road, bear "RIGHT" at the "Y" in the road. Follow the road up until it makes a hard 90* corner, anywhere past that corner, shooting toward a foothill as a backstop, is 100% legal to shoot, and NO ONE will be around :D

If you pass the Slash-X bar, you went too far. Theres 2 sets of powerlines, you wanna go down the FIRST road.

Also, you can't shoot within 100yds of those power line towers, or any other man made object, and you also CAN NOT shoot on the WEST side of highway 247/barstow rd, it MUST be on the east side. West side is OHV only area.

If you find somewhere, let me know. I also want to know where to shoot besides those ranges mentioned above.

There are 3 places that I go in the San Bernardino Mountains on Forest Service Land. They are somewhat remote and a truck or 4X4 would be recommended. You also need a Forest Adventure Pass.

1) Manzanita Flats - Off hwy 330 south of Running springs
2) Lightning Gulch - Off hwy 38 south of Onyx Summit
3) Big Pine Flats - Near Fawnskin (Big Bear)
