Quick question:

The Appleseed website mentions a few times that the goal is rifleman training using a rack/service grade rifle with surplus ammo, etc. For an AR15, "surplus ammo" leaves me with M193, M855, and maybe MK318.

Any suggestion? I'd prefer M855, but don't know that'd work with the range (do they use steel targets?).

You may bring any ammunition suitable for your rifle with a few limits:
Steel core or steel jacketed ammo may be prohibited by a specific rifle range.
Tracer ammo is not permitted.
Armor piercing is prohibited at many ranges.

Surplus ammo is not a requirement for Appleseed, it is listed as being sufficient for Appleseed purposes, implying that match grade or hand loads are not necessary to achieve a rifleman score.

Surplus rifles are not a requirement either, but they are generally adequate for the task.

Most Appleseed events use paper targets, but there are some places that have steel targets for part of the event.

Thanks! I'll contact the specific range to inquire about M855 then.

What area are you in? Most ranges are ok with M855
