Hello calguns ..I purchased myself a new toy but I feel like I made the wrong choice when it comes to ar rifles. I have been doing some research here on calguns and most people preffer to build an ar or buy other brands other than del-ton. Just looking for the positives and the negatives on .223 del-ton ar's. This is my first ar rifle but will surely not be my last. I am currently in DROS jail and will be bailed out this friday .lol. Thanks

If you are happy with your rifle, that's all that matters.

^^^ Yeap!! Don't care what others think... Your gun!! I think DTIs are good to go. If it functions then its a good gun. Look around and you'll see some top name stuff having problems. BTW; Welcome to Calguns !!!

Welcome to Calguns. If your take it out, use it, and have a good time, then it's a good gun in my book.

Yup, what the others have said.
Are you planning on going to a warzone? It may not be a BCM, but Del Ton can pit holes in paper just fine. Use the money you save and but ammo.

Welcome!
Using steel case ammo will void your Del-Ton warranty.
Just use brass, and you'll be good.

Yeah thats what I was told by the sales person at turner's. Any links or best place to buy acessories like optics, etc?

I don't have any experience with DT but from what I've read on calguns and other forums it seems like the guys who bash it never owned one, while everyone who owns them seem to like them.

Best place for accessories is the for sale section here.

If it comes with irons, learn to use those first. You can spend thousands on mall ninja accessories that look cool to gamers but are a waste of money and only add unwanted weight to your rifle. If you feel the need for optics, there are many places to buy from. Some will sell "cheap" airsoft stuff and tell you it's fine for your gun. Others will sell extremely high end and overpriced stuff for those who just need to waste money. What's your budget on optics? Does it take into account the need for mounts and rings? What do you want your optics to accomplish?

I see...ok ammo I have...I have been buying some for a while now. I thought that the new law was going to take affect even though it was just for hg ammo. Thank god that fresno judge had a brain! Well I am a pretty good shot as it is but I want something to make it easier to hit a target. I am new to ar's so I don't now what's on market. I am on a budget of maybe $400 max. Optics would be nice I think..

$400 including rings and mount? What distance(s) are you planning on shooting? Are you looking for magnification, red dot or a relflex type optic? Are you wanting "combat" type optics or more precission optics? As far as mounts, are you getting a flat top or an upper with a carry handle?

no carry handle type..it has a flat top...not sure whats better for me...just looking to better my chances at a shot farther than 100 yards.

Your flat top means you only need to buy rings and optics. are you wanting a "normal" rifle scope with magnification orsomething more like a red dot?

This would be a decent scope to get you up and plinking. When you decide you want something else, you could always put it on a hunting rifle.
