I have been informed that the legislature is so busy, no one is checking email.

Also, HCI is running phone banks targeting 4 Assemblypersons to vote Yes on AB 352. Please contact these 4 lawmakers, thank them for opposing AB 352 and urge their continued opposition to the bill:

Name -------------------- Sac office ------- Local office
Joseph Canciamilla ------ (916) 319-2011 --- (925) 372-7990
Shirley Horton----------- (916) 319-2078 --- (619) 462-7878
Gloria Negrete McLeod -- (916) 319-2061 --- (909) 621-2783

Do not THANK Tom Umberg: He has changed his vote to a YES
Tom Umberg ----------- (916) 319-2069 --- (714) 285-0355[/I]

Who/what is HCI?
Handgun Control, Inc. Yeah, I know after they lost bigtime in 2000, they decided to change their name - finally figured out "Gun Control" doesn't sell too well, organizational-id-wise, in polls... changed their name to the Brady Campaign to Prevent Handgun... err.. Gun... something... no... aww, poop. Maybe I can remember their initials... BCPVG.. no... BVCP.. dang... forget it! They're HCI.

Crap, neither me or my friends can ever remember so we all still just call them "HCI". :-)

Sarah, remember?

I let them all know, Mrs Horton already supported us so I just said thanks again.

Anyhow I can sleep better knowing I did something rather than nothing.

Feel free guys - I'm already pretty busy when I get "the call". I first post it at http://calnra.com/, then over the internal MC Lists, calguns.net, a few private parties... I had to drop usenet because 1). no time 2). not worth it.

gunscal.net - thanks for the offer - again, please feel free to move it there too. I don't post secrets at calguns. :-)

Feel free to broadcast it far and wide. Please do in fact. Tell 'em Mike Haas sent ya. or not. :-)

Maybe I should start writing a script that would make my posts for me to all the forums I'm on. that's my style - write a tool to get rid of the repetative stuff. make the computer do the work. Hmmm.

maybe someday. For right now, I'm wondering is it's been long enough for me to call those 8 numbers again.

Shirley Horton's box was full, so I actually got transferred to a live person. Tom Umberg's office picked right up, so I got to voice my opinion there. Had to leave a message on Canciamilla and McLeod's boxes.

We'll see if it does any good.

Can't believe I got two live people at 9:30!

ETA: Tom Umberg's office was the only one to ask me if I was in his district. Even thought I'm not, I said yes. His district covers: Santa Ana, part of Anaheim, and Garden Grove. So, just tell them you're in anyone of those citys.

...Can't believe I got two live people at 9:30!... Tom Umberg's office was the only one to ask me if I was in his district...
Normally, thay always want that info. They're too busy to ask right now, which is good for our side. It's a madhouse up there and it will be until past midnight tomorrow night. (The 2005-2006 Legislative session expires at midnight, Aug. 31. All bills not passed onto the governor's office are then dead. of course, they might be re-introduced next year, but that's next year. KEEP UP THE PRESSURE! It's in our interest to relieve Arnold of the responsibility of making these decisions.)

I'm ready for a phone call with news any hour for the next 1-1/2 days. And I'll followup with a post at calguns, you bet.

We've got to keep them from getting those 4 votes.

I was able to get through to all but McLeod's office. It
was 11.49p when I called and there are STILL people
there. Won't hurt one bit to try to get in a call.

I'll start up again in the early morning.

Some feedback received from our Members' Councils network, which we also "lit up" tonight...

...Canciamilla's office actually anticipated the bill I was calling about. When I asked how he knew, he said it was obvious from the number of calls...

...Just called Canciamilla. Identified myself, said I lived in Concord. Before I could say more, the staffer said "Let me guess - you want Canciamilla to continue to vote "no" on 352."...

And a message to all from Paul Payne...
I just spoke with Ed Worley and he is still in the Capitol.

He is still there, and (obviously) the legislators are still there.

BTW, Ed has spoken with some of the targeted Assemblymembers, and they have thanked Ed for the NRA members calling to thank them. ;-)

Keep it up, folks. You are doing G R E A T ! ! !

From Paul Payne (with Ed Worley) at the Capitol, 1:41 AM...
They are now gone for the evening (actually, its morning). The legislature is scheduled to be back in session at 10:30am.

Thanks for all of your efforts.

We will re-engage in the battle in a few hours.

Good night. :-)

Please call him at (916) 319-2020 and let him know that he was right on the first vote of 8/30/06.

When I called I was asked what company I was with. "Huh?" was my reply. She asked the city and double checked that I knew the zip code there. Apparently, Torrico is keeping tract of who is really in his disctrict on the calls.

That's OK, call anyway, EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT IN THEIR DISTRICT. Only THEY care about that. Make them stay on the phone (they really would rather be helping their boss pass his/her bills! After all, this is the big crunch time - tomorrow their bill will be dead.)

They have to be reminded that, when someone up there tries to do bad gun bills, they ALL will pay a price. And our unending calls are part of the payment.

Let them think we're dumb and can't even call the right office. WE DON'T CARE! :-) Hammer them!

I just read over at THR that the Assembly Member
below has abstained from voting on AB 352. How
bout we give his office a call and thank Mr.Yee for
doing so. I just got done. Nice people.

Assemblyman Leland Yee changed his vote from "YES" to "NOT VOTING." (as good as a "No" vote for defeating a bill)

It would be good if folks would also call him at (916) 319-2012 and THANK HIM FOR NOT SUPPORTING AB352.

Phonecalls from the sandbox asking the Assemblypersons to oppose AB352 seemed to really surprise everyone in these offices. :D

Called and left a big THANK YOU for Assemblyman Yee while I was at it, too.

Also called Torrico's office left a "WTF?" 'cause he voted in favor of AB352.
