So yesterday am it sounded like the breeding season at the duck spot I was at. This place borders the foothills outside Marysville and the toms were going NUTS for about an hour. I must admit this got me amped about turkey season and now maybe I'll really put some effort into it. When your hunting them hearing toms gobble and getting them to respond is as close to a cheap Elk like hunt as you can get. :D

The addiction starts. Its such a love hate type of thing.

Its even worse when you help for a Nwtf dinner before the season starts.

Yeah, was at Metcalf this weekend taking the Hunter Safety Class with my kids - I think we saw at least 100 turkeys between the two days, plus some wild pig too.
One of the turkeys actually got on top of one of the clay houses - pretty cool to watch them do that - very agile.

I heard that they have started breeding already. In San ramon area they have become a road hazard.

Music to my ears. Haven't heard a peep since they are scarce here.
