hi all,

i want to get the barrel painted black. from reading other threads, duracoat seems to be the way to do it. I want it get done once and only once. basically, i don't mind paying money for GOOD JOB. you know what i mean? i want to make sure that its durable. I like to put a lot of rounds thru all my guns. :) last thing i need is the paint scratching off easily.

I live in OC. is there a place around here that will do a good job?

besides duracoat, what other method do you recommend for my rifle?

I would recomend having the barrel blackened instead of being painted. I don't know where to get that done down there, but there has got to be someone in Southern California that does that. Also, it may be expensive to have it done. Maybe 150-200 dollars.

Techplate has a process to blacken stainless... They did it on my 1911 slide and did a great job for cheap. Give them a call if you haven't already and ask to speak to Marshall, he will help you.
