I am looking at putting together a hunting club together for feral pigs. The ranch/ranches are located outside of Willows near Elk Creek. I wanted to see how many people would be interested in joining such a club.

Membership would include exclusive accsess to at least one, but possibbly several ranches totaling several thousand acres of land. You would have exclusive hunting rights to both feral pigs and coyotes.

Cost is subjesctive. The more people who are interested the less each member would have to pay. If enough people are interested the membership would include several properties.

If interested you can Pm me what you would be willing to pay for a year long membership and an email to contact you at.

The goal is to create a property for the members to hunt at the lowest possible cost to the individual.

in such a venture.
I'd probably be down for about $1500 / year.

Would be interested depending on the cost.

A stated above cost would depend on the number of members and the deal I could work out with the land owners. When I get a feel for the number of people who are interested I'll make them an offer and go from there.

I don't think id join a club that has been fleeced with hunters. Id be interested if there was a small amount of hunters.
I believe golden ram charges approx 1300 for property throughout california, but that's hunting everything. I don't think id pay much more than $1000.
The deciding factor would be the amount of ranches.

If only a few people are interested it would probably be only one ranch. If more we would try to incorporate more property. Cost purely depends on the number of members when compared to the number or ranches involved. Again, I need to see how many people are even interested before I can put a price on anything.

I would see if you could get more property commitments before you go fishing for members. If you had more property locked in then you could come to the table with a member fee. I think you are getting the cart before the pig. :)

There is definately enough interest. Please be patient as the deal is still being worked out and I'm trying to bring more property into the mix. This may take anywhare form a few weeks to a couple of months to finalize. I'll give updates along the way. Cost is looking like it may be relatively low at this point, but it is still being peiced together.

Cool thanks. Id look into golden ram club rules, and revise them and set your own, to possibly eliminate any stupidity that may occur with your new club. Let me know if I can help.

Would be interested if it wasnt only pigs and yotes. Deer, Bear, and turkeys get my interest. I am not willing to pay a membership for pig and yotes, thats nothing special.
I like what you are doing though, and you seem to have enough interest even if you consider the reality that only maybe 10% of the people "interested" will come through

Sorry, no experience in hunting. How would this work out? Say you got the desired numbers and amount set, will there be a fix date to hunt? how many hunters will be in a said fixed date? How many times can one hunt in a year? I have seen wild pigs on History channel and they said its population is out of control, which could mean that hunting them anytime is not a issue?

+1 depending on cost...

I'd be in and have 3-4 friends - also depending on cost.

Here's an idea. Could the landowners use work in addition to/lieu of cash? I'd be happy to clear brush, repair fence/gates, etc if it could help limit the $$$ investment.

I'd be interested if there is limited access. Don't want to pay to hunt highly pressured land. Tough balance.

Interested, need more info... definitely not interested though at the prices that have been discussed. Also, needs to be more than just coyote and pig. Deer, rabbit etc ought to be huntable too. The prices talked about may be fine for upscale hunting clubs with a preserved range, tended game, a lodge and a scotch bar to sell to big-city executives, but not for a bunch of good-ol-boys who happen to know each other from a website, going it on-their-own out on a few yokel ranches where there's not even a toilet - who just want to do a little hunting without getting trod under foot by 1000 other hunters or shooed away by DNR or land owners.

Rather than replay to everyone's PM I'm updating you here.
The deal fell through with the primary ranch that I was trying to lease. They wanted Waaay to much for it. I'm trying to find some other property right now and resume making offers. It is going to be a while before anything significant happens.

Just remember to throw in "it's really their loss. They could basically get free money just for permitting hunters on their lands. It's like the land is generating easy funds all for almost nothing. They don't really have to do labor work at all"

Some landowners just don't know how to maximize profits from the dirt they've bought.

I found a propery owner that has property out of corning, red bluff, and redding that has many pigs. So far he has agreed to let myself hunt the property, but does not want anybody else out there right now without him being present.

That being said, I have put this project on the back burners as of right now as a business opportunity working with long range hunting rifles has taken the bulk of my time and focus outside of my regular job.

If this turns into anything I will update.

I have spent many hours calling folks and knocking on doors trying to put this together. Most people who have property they are willing/able to lease are already doing so. I put one last ditch effort in last week and had a few leads, but I simply don't have the time to put in to this anymore as other obligations have taken priority.

So for now, unless something falls into my lap or I a get an unexpected phone call, I'm calling this idea dead for the time being.

chicoredneck
06-01-2011, 10:38 AM
To those who are looking for a place to hunt if you put in the time there are land owners who are willing to let you hunt pigs on their land. You just have to hear a lot of no's first.

Franz Maurer

also interested but the cost is serious consideration
don't need any luxuries, hand holding, or practically anything, simply access...
anything above couple hundred per year sounds like a serious rip-off

Also interested.

Interest though is relevant to factors such as accessibility, cost, game and such.

Don't care around hunting anything I'm not planning on eating so I'd be most interested in deer, pig, turkey, and duck.
