I was wondering who all stores there ammo in cans? Do you just put the ammo in the cans loosely? in its original box? How many can you fit in say a
.50 can boxed or loose? What about the .30cans? Im talking about 5.56x45. Your input is greatly appreciated. :)

I also read on ammo Oracle about vacuum packaging. I have one.;-) and if it really helps, i can do that too.:D

I have 1000 rounds of 5.56 in a .50 cal can and it fits perfectly. I also have about 750 rounds of 7.62X39 in another can (I need more.) I also store 9mm in the box in a .30 cal can. I can fit 600 rounds in the boxes in a .30 cal can.

I toss a few desiccant packs into each can to absorb moisture. For the small amount of air left in the ammo can, this step is not really needed, but I got a ton of these little packs from a local shoe store...

Yes, the 1000 rounds of 5.56 is loose in the 50 cal can.

I have some on strippers in cans, or on strippers in bandos in cans, and some in boxes in cans. I only store reloads loose in the ammo cans. I don't really have a need to squeeze in that extra bit of space, and there is something that just doesn't appeal to me about taking packaged rounds and transferring them to a big loose container.
