Here's a few different types on this link. http://www.mem.tcon.net/users/5010/5491/rimfires.htm I wouldn't mind a Galil if I could find one. There is the FAL .22 also. http://www.gunparts.citymax.com/page/page/778685.htm

There's the AK22 made by Armscor, which is an AK styled .22. I've also seen an AR styled .22, though I'm not sure what company or model it was.
I've never heard of an MP5 style .22, who makes it?

The AK-22, when compared vs the Romanian AK trainer (an actual AK, chamber in 22 for training purposes), just doesn't stack up. The Trainers were like $250 online a few months ago - if you could get someone to transfer it, you could pick one of those up cheap.

I have an R22, picked it up a six months ago with some hesitation. Do a search for R22 here on Calguns and you'll see what I'm talking about. I purchased a 2nd generation and the first day out with it, the magazine release broke, couldn't get the mag out...I called Rhineland the next day to get a replacement and they said they'd ship one out ASAP. That was over 5 months ago. Called again last Tuesday and one is "supposed" to be on the way, not sure what happened to the last one. It has been said that the 3rd generation one's have all the kinks out. I sure hope so because problems with a new gun suck, and poor service is even worse. You might want to build a dedicated 22lr on the AR platform, probably much more reliable and easier to get parts.

Good frackin' luck with the R22s there. Hope you have a buddy who's an aspiring gunsmith.

I personally do not own nor have I shot a R22. They look neat and I originally wanted one.

However I saw a guy shooting his R22 at Metcalf a few months ago. He was using various 30 rounders. Not sure what ammo. But he averaged 2 jams per mag.

Is there a 10 round restriction on rimfire 22s as well?? Or is the 10 round law only for centerfire??

Yes, only 10 round mags even for 22's (rimfires).

Yes, only 10 round mags even for 22's (rimfires).

Only detachable mag fed .22 rimfires. Now on a tube mag there is no limit for .22 rimfires. My Marlin 39A has a capacity of 19rds .22lr and 26rds. of .22 shorts.:D

10's the limit unless they were owned by you before the ban. They are legal under that situation.

Here's a better explanation then mine. Borrowed from a user of a different forum that knows Cali gun law. magzines of more capacity then ten rounds is NOT illegal IF it was OWNED before Jan. 1st 2000. Using a magazine with more then ten rounds is NOT illegal as long as you meet that condition. As of Jan 1, 2000 it became illegal to buy, sell, trade, transfer or lend a "high capacity" magazine. Lending a magazne is legal IF the owner of the magazine is standing with the person using the magazine.

hmm ive seen a lot of those before, but i was always under the impression that ALL AKs were illegal in california. oftentimes, the seller of the AK trainer would state that he could not sell to california. hoping someone could clarify this because i REALLY want one of those .22 AKs:)

oh and btw, you might want to look into WASR rifles as well, they are single-stack romanian AKs and do come chambered in .22lr

If I was going to get a 22 I would get a G22 or a 10/22. 10/22 is cool for cali because you can make them look like a lot cooler.
