View Full Version : What's your favorite hunting show?

So I'm sitting here watching TIVO'd hunting shows. What's your favorite?
Mine is Elk Fever on Versus. Hearing those bugles and seeing the footage when they get inside a herd is what its all about. The funny part is you wonder how many blown stalks or stalks where they can't get on the herd bull that they don't show. It's not as easy as TV makes it out to be. :p
Also they show guys missing shots with a bow and rifle. I like that b/c thats how hunting is.

Does it count if I like them all?

My favorite show used to be Barta's. I liked the show for many reasons. I liked the fact that he didnt kill something on every show. I liked the fact that he would hunt or fish for something different every week. I liked the fact that he didnt have any hunting equipment sponsors (a lot of sponsored shows are closer to informercials then hunting shows). I also like Barta himself.
I find the difficult to watch now. Since his ailment its not the same. I dont expect it to be the same but its just too somber for me now.

Barta and Spies are pretty entertaining. I also like predator quest.

Predator Quest and Benny Spies.

I like Jim Shocky's show (i think he has a couple). Something about the mix of Alaska, hunting, and his funny dad and friend are pretty entertaining.

Predator Nation and Speargun Hunter.

I don't watch any of them.
Too much like so-called reality tv.

The Wild Within is pretty damn good if you ask me, I like how it's presented, it's the only hunting show I can watch with my wife. Plus the host, Steve Rinella, goes on a very wide array of hunting/fishing adventures. I was not expecting it to be so good but I'm hooked.

Benny Spies, and after seeing a hog get knifed in hawaii last night, The Wild Within may be pretty good.

Barta, Dangerous Game and my new fav - The Wild Within. I am surprised that it was as real as it is on a non-hunting type channel. Even ESPN puts disclaimers about kill shots on its hunting shows. The production value is much higher as it must be a higher budget show.
I get kind of tired of watching the same guys go out and kill the biggest baddest animals they can pay for...I'd prefer to watch "normal" guys hunting "normal" animals - throw in a hard earned trophy every once in a while for a thrill and I'm hooked.
I was at SHOT this past week and saw many of the hosts of shows walking around - all there as spokesmen for their corporate sponsors or shilling something with their name on it. I understand its business, but you get the sense that it isn't about the hunting anymore.

Pretty surprised and impressed as well. Good show so far.
And what a freaking dream come true for Steven Rinella. Hosting a travel/hunting show? Damn...

I would rather get out and hunt but if I had to choose it would be Predator Quest.
