Apparently UC Davis Researcher and Joyce Foundation puppet grantee Garen Wintemute (http://www.joycefdn.org/content.cfm/grant-list?GrantID=31277&GrantDetails=1)had serious doubts (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2011/01/22/AR2011012203452.html)about efficacy of the 1994 Federal Assault Weapons Ban back before it passed.

"Many people, me included, were skeptical about the chances that the magazine ban would make a difference back in 1994," Wintemute said.

Those of you who follow such things may recall the (throat clearing) "research" he did on Gun Shows (http://www.ucdmc.ucdavis.edu/vprp/pdf/IGS/IGSexecsummweb.pdf) which claimed that they were hotbeds of Nazi rhetoric, illegal gun sales and trafficking.

Funny aside (and I just learned this)... Garen Wintemute is behind the assault on the Jennings family of firearms manufacturers (http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/guns/interviews/wintemute.html); Jennings, Davis Arms, Raven/Phoenix Arms, etc. He's one of the shills that the antis used to litigate those companies/families out of business. From the ashes came our own Jason Davis - who's been kicking the @sses of the antis for the last 6 years.

Unintended Consequences, folks.

Yeah. Jason is no fan of Wintermute...

Poor minorities around California should also dislike him for oppressing them by driving the cost of self defense up for them.

Isn't it funny how the modern Bull Conners think they're saving the children?

They only claim they think that. Anybody with an IQ sufficient to carry out basic hygiene procedures knows that gun control means children die.

It's always been, and still is, about controlling WHO has access to guns.

-GeneThe old ones did too. The difference is that the old ones would come right out and admit that what was at stake was preserving their preference of social order and world view.

His analogy of no "minimum safety standards for cheaper cars" is really laughable. Guess he's forgot about at least 35 years of Gov regs on auto safety minimums.

You're absolutely right. It ensures that only criminals have access to them.

You guys have it easier now... the internet makes it so much, much easier. Information is so much easier to obtain and disseminate now.

I remember back when Roberti-Roos was being debated... there was a whole network of people that had to spread the info via telephone for real time updates. :p

The organization is SO much better than it was then and the ability to mobilize 30K+ calguns users with a single email to phone or email your representative is just awesome. :D
