View Full Version : Watch for CRPA and GOC to reverse their positions (AGAIN)

Unofficially, I have heard that CRPA and GOC will be AGAIN reversing at least one of the anti-gun positions they had recently adopted (and had publicly announced). Looks like someone finally woke them up - I wonder who that might have been. :-)

I don't know yet which betrayal of CA gun-owners/hunters they are now playing damage control on. Recently...

- They removed their opposition to AB 2714 ("selling ammo is just like wine"). NRA has steadfastly opposed AB 2714 since it was introduced.
http://calnra.com/legs.shtml?year=2006&summary=ab2714

- They supported PETA's anti-hunting dog tehthering bill, SB 1578. NRA has joined "the Houndsmen" in their strong opposition to SB 1578.

I have also learned that, on Aug 16th, while NRA was engaged in fighting the DOJ's regulation change at the public hearing, CRPA and GOC were BOTH at the Capitol working against NRA (and CA gun-owners) on AT LEAST these two issues.

And - another big change - at least one of the previously unreachable CRPA officers (not the puppet board, I mean one of the 4 people that actually run the cabal) is returning calls from members, stating "You can reach me here ANYTIME...". One of my MC members got a callback within 20 minutes! Maybe someone can find out why they did what they did and more importantly, what OTHER shenanigans are they pulling?

She was told "CRPA would NEVER oppose NRA." (Now, if only they would tell the truth.)

Too late, we know their game already. Flip floping like some pancakes.

I saw them skulk by us going to lunch in Sacto.

You'd think that the nominal bonds of common purpose would at least merit a wave and a hello to compatriots, but this was not the case.

These guys are private contract lobbying firms who nominally support the 2nd Amendment, unless more money and/or relationship ties conflict with what they should be supporting...

As posted on the CRPA.org site, they knew about the 16 Aug 06 meeting http://www.crpa.org/showpages.asp?pid=1261 and recommended everyone call or email Mr. Amador.
They could have been there in support at least wearing a hat in the backround or rented a head for the purpose. They are a California based organization representing 65,000 Californians. I would think that would have some sway with the Chairman of the meeting.

I had planned to call CRPA and inform them of my decision to stop supporting them and send my piddling amount of money to NRA. However comma, looking at their "Victory Garden" http://www.crpa.org/showpages.asp?pid=1006 list of things they do and positive outcomes, I'm wondering if they are claiming actual accomplished deeds or riding on anothers coat tails.

Regardless, I'm done with them.
Count is now 64,998 members my wife is out too.

Its funny you bring this subject up.

My husband and I were talking to a guy in a Sacramento area gun shop and he is with the member council of the NRA. He told my husband all about how the NRA members were "{{{edit bad word}}}-off" at CRPA for claiming credit for the work of the NRA and its members.

It seems that since the CRPA also uses the same attorney that the NRA uses, they claim credit for anything that the NRA does through that attorney. The guy directed us to their web site page www.calnra.com and I found the following statement "The NRA Members' Councils have determined that other groups have been claiming credit for NRA's (our) recent victories both locally and in Sacramento. We recognize it is much more difficult for these groups to provide effective grassroots and legislative action support and we appreciate all assistance." Its a shame that they have to put up a message like that so people will know that they are doing their job.

And while we're on this topic, I have found more proof of this pattern.

Earlier this year, the NRA launched a whole-hearted defense of the gun show down in the southern California city of Glendale. The were successful http://www.calnra.com/legs.shtml?summary=glendale.1 and guess who claimed credit for the success, and never even mentioned the NRA or the members councils participation? Yep, you guessed it. http://www.crpa.org/showpages.asp?pid=1233. They even put it on the cover of their magazine.

I am told that the NRA was 100% behind this entire project and it included NRA staff members, volunteers, and at least one NRA Board of Directors member. Yet, since the NRA attorney used the name "California Rifle and Pistol Association" in his letter to the Glendale city council, http://nramemberscouncils.com/caspecial/glendale1.pdf CRPA used this as a reason to claim this victory as their own. Reportedly, the reason the NRA attorney used their name, was to give the letter so sence of local standing.

The fact is that I was going to wait until later to announce that I had discovered this information. The more I dig around, the more I am finding a lot more of the same thing. This seems to be quite a pattern.

With the overall lack of support at the Aug 16. hearings as well as supporting AB2714, I've decided that I also will NOT renew my GOC and CRPA memberships.

i have decided not to renew my membership in the CRPA and renewed my membership in the NRA and it will be a life membership. of course the easy pay plan though. i do like the CRPA for the updated legislative page but that is about it. also this site is more updated than they are and it's free to boot.
