View Full Version : No room for a safe

I recently moved into a smaller home, and really dont have room for a safe. I want a way to secure 2 rifles and a shotgun from theft. I thought about a Lag bolt in the wall with a cable through all three triggers. Anyone got any ideas?

Before I had a safe, I used trigger locks on my guns, but I also removed the bolts from the rifles and locked them away somewhere else.
I don't think a lag-bolt and cable will be very effective if the thief has a bolt cutter. If something "happens" involving a minor you are responsible if the guns aren't in a DOJ approved safe.

btw, you can also look at rifle wall safes, you cut out an opening in the drywall and bolt it into your studs.

They are making safes now that are pretty small. Shop around you just might be surprised.

You can buy a small safe and bolt it to the wall. Holes are easily patched up, especially if you put the safe in a closet. If you have a garage, you can do the same and it gives you a few more options in size. Remember that usually the small 4 or 5 gun safes with a key lock aren't really safes and can be defeated fairly easily. They just keep the honest people and kids honest.
This may look promising...
