Anyone seen one or heard of someone making one? Just curious?

Could be a problem. A lot of 545 is steel core, which is a no no for pistols

Why is it a shame? You think that stock pinned open and silly barrel extension makes it more functional? If we could own SBR it would be a totally different story. I LOVE my Krinkov pistol.

a stock makes it 100 times more functional

I read that since the caliber is smaller than 223 it is not a issue but some rather not see them because it might ban the ammo and there are lots of 545 enthusiasts. Some that only shoot 545 and nothing else.

I just saw some pics from SHOT. Theres going to be a mini beryl type pistol in 556. called archer from poland.

Hey V,
To each their own so don't take it as a harsh comment, like Shadyjeff said a stock just makes it more functional. Yeah it has the silly fake can but for me having the stock and the option of going featureless is nice. I have an AMD pistol and shot other AK pistols, they are cool to have.

The good thing is if you build a 74 krink into a pistol, you can make probably $250 back by selling the rear trunnion and side folder.

Haha and SJgunguy kills me when he posts the krink pistols!

I think I did this one on an old style AKbuilder flat.

Did you weld the fsb/gb yourself? That looks nice

I think either Charlie or restoreit did that one. I think it looks better if you use a 90 degree gas block. This one is obviously a 45 degree.

anyone want to elaborate on why this is bad?

Well, one reason it's bad is that if ATF gets wind of people making 5.45 pistols, it'll reclassify 5.45 as an armor-piercing handgun round. Which would make it ineligible to be imported, same as Chinese 7.62x39 steel core became ineligible after people started making 7.62x39 pistols.

is that the only reason or is it actually harmful to the firearm?

Not bad for the gun at all

How about there is no domestically produced 545 ammo and most of the cheap imported ammo is steel core. No more cheap ammo then no more 545 pistols.

Ha, I don't even own anything chambered in 545. Those were all shop builds and one went to a CGF member.

Yeah but how much did it cost? Just wondering since I think hornady is pricey. I think silver bear? makes non corrosive 5.45 ammo, it's priced similar to 7.62ak ammo I think around $200 per 1K

It wasn't because individuals were making 7.62x39mm pistols, it was because Olympic Arms released the Olympic Arms OA-93 (an AR-15 pistol in 7.62x39mm) at the SHOT show in 1994 (despite extensive industry objection), the ATF saw it and immediately classified cheap Chinese 7.62 ammo as steel core armor piercing handgun ammo, which was why it was banned. Many people still have never forgiven Olympic Arms to this day.

If a company started producing or importing a 5.45x39mm pistol, you can say goodbye to the cheap 1020rds spam cans of Russian 5.45

I think I'll stick with the 7.62x39mm pistol. I wouldn't want anyone to blame me for the downfall of cheap 5.45 ammo.:D
