The Home Defense Center... I find this relevant to my interests. ;-)

I'd love to find a way to mount one of these horizontally....

Nifty product - thanks for the heads-up.

I'd like to see one that holds two rifles and/or two pistols, but it's a neat idea that I haven't seen anywhere else...

imagine if they start making them as "stealth" furniture pieces...

Thats one of the first things I'd throw in the back of a truck during a robbery. Small, and light. Very compact. Doesn't looks like anything two guys couldn't carry out

Iimagine that it has predrilled holes in the corner to bolt it to the studs. If not, it would be easily fixed to do that.

Unless your house was built by lesbians..................no studs, all tongue and groove.

I built the same thing out of an old Army surplus 48x14x10 box. Took off most of the locking hardware - Lined it with egg crate from a few rifle/upper purchases - Sprayed it in camo and called it good....

What's funny is I have one exterior wall of my house that fits that description perfectly. :)

From www.ammoland.com (http://www.ammoland.com/2011/01/06/sentry-safe-introduces-new-gun-safe-models/)

The Home Defense Center Safe will be available in early summer in sporting goods stores around the U.S. and retails for $399 MSRP

Wish there was away around doing those mods. Being too heavy or cumbersome is a deterrent itself.

From the looks of it, you'd only be able to bolt it to the corner studs. It doesn't look larger than 16" to be able to bolt it to wall studs. Looks like an excellent idea for a closet.

thats so sweet the perfect size and without the delivery charges the huge safes require

This product is an interesting concept if street price is reasonable. My old Stack-on style cabinet downstairs is maxed-out, so I need a bigger cabinet or (better yet) a proper safe. But storing a large safe inside the house is problematic for many of us.

I also have a Sentry X031 box bolted to an upstairs closet shelf and wall, with a couple of handguns at the ready. Sentry's new product would work well in that same way and allow my shotgun to likewise be ready to fend off zombie attacks. :D

Does not look very secure for firearms to me.

Seems like a crow bar will defeat it. JMHO.

I was reading the blog post about the safe and caught this gem:

Home Security experts recommend keeping your keys, cell phone, a flashlight and other personal items you would want in an emergency in the same place every night. Our unit offers an integrated personal defense tray built into the top of the unit

...I about fell out of my chair laughing. A small indentation on top of the safe is an "integrated personal defense tray" ? ... Really, Sentry? Really?
