Hi All - is just picked up this little beauty and am excited to add optics. I'm going with a Warne base but wanted to see if anyone has suggestions for the scope. I've heard Leupold FX or VX II or the Bushnell 3200 series handgun scopes are good options.

I posted in the optics forum but there were no takers :)

Anyone with 1st-hand experience?

Many thanks

I have scopes on a number of handguns. On my 454casull Ruger SRH I have a 2X Leupold. It is better than the 4X for me. I use the 4X on some T/C Encore barrels(223/308win/257Roberts/454casull). With that kicker I strongly suggest a Leupold and 2X works out fine for me.

I second this. I have a Leupold 2X on my Freedom Arms 454 Casull, and it's held up to a lot of hunting and shooting. Tried a 4X, but went back to the 2X. Also tried a Weaver 4X, but the cross hairs turned sideways after around 50 rounds. The only other scope I'd recommend for a hard recoiling handgun are the Thompson Center scopes.

+1 on the Leupold

I have a Leupold M8 2X20 EER on a .454 SRH and it's great. Tried some cheap pistol scopes and it was a waist of money. Either they won't hold up or the parallax is so bad you may as well be using your irons.
I'm looking for another Leupold EER scope for a Scout Rifle project that I'm starting. You can pick them up used on Ebay for half retail if you are patient.

i use a contender in .223 and 6.8 rem. both are 14 inch barrels i use a nc star pistol scope 2-7x32 i can put 6 shot in a 4 inch group at 160 yards(benched) and a 2 inch at 100 yards i have used the 2x scopes bu i just cant make the longer range shots. the scopes are inexpensive and hold up well never had a probelm with either of them. not really sure how far your looking to range out

I use a Leupold 2x on my FA 454.

I know some folks are using the 460 for long range handgun hunting, a 2x won't help you much if that's your interest.
