I just found out about the single action revolver exemption :o And wonder if someone can direct me to the letter of the law on it.

Would the Ruger 'Single Six' qualify? I've wanted one of the convertibles for years and thought since it's not on the list I'm outta luck. If it's not, are there any .22lr/.22wmr revolvers that are?

This is in PC 12133.

Single-action handguns holding 5 or more shots and whose barrel length is 3" or longer, and overall length 7.5" or longer, are exempt from 'safe gun' approved gun list rules.

A similar (new) exemption applies to single-shot pistols having 6" or longer barrels and a 10.5" min. overall length.

You can buy, import, sell, etc. these guns without all the 'safe gun' hoo-ha BS.

I'd bet most single-action wheelguns conform to the above. If you see a Ruger, Colt, etc. you like on GunBroker, just have it shipped to your FFL.

As far as the single shots. The law states 6" barrel and DOJ means it.
See

So, legally you cannot just buy the receiver; though I understand it is/was being done - even some of the big shops.

I see, all that way at the bottom... Great! That means Encores, Contenders are good too! Now all I gotta do is save up! (and find a 6+" Encore caliber I like)

Thanks again

Would this mean that you can make an AR pistol out of the DPMS single-shot cali receiver? I'm talking about the ones with no mag well found here: http://www.rbprecision.com/dpms_defense.htm

Single Shot California legal LR-05V $175.00
New DPMS California single shot AR lower. No magazine well. Made from 7075-T6 forging. Purchase as a stripped lower, complete lower assembly or rifle.

To my reading, you could. It would have to be built out of state and then shipped in. It would also have to be a pistol receiver, don't want a SBR.
