Has anyone renewed their C&R license lately? If you have, how long did it take to receive your renewal?
Thanks,

Haven't renewed, but if you let it lapse, then refile, you don't need to keep your old bound book. Just an idea.

Hey thanks for reminding me. I think mine is up in March.

It took 2-3 weeks. I was getting sorta worried (not too much) because mine was getting close to expiring. Then I got the letter from ATF. I filled out the form (# of guns transferred in/out using license, same address, etc) and paid by CC. New license was in my hands < 3 weeks later.

Mine expires Feb 1. I sent my renewal form in back in Nov, and my CC got charged last month. I'm still waiting for my license.

Only took me about 3-4 weeks last July to renew my California C&R.

Update.
I called the BATFE to check on my license renewal status. I was told I was still going through a background check and to call back in two weeks if I do not receive my renewal. The wheels are s-l-o-w-l-y turning.

Sounds like they are behind in their paperwork.

What's the number to check in with the license process?

(Little OT) I sent in paperwork in November '10 for an Address Change and I still haven't heard back *shrug*

Thanks guys, for the reminder.

I checked my credit card; it was charged on 12/23 (yes, right before the X'mas). But I haven't received my renewed license yet. I'd better call tomorrow.

Well, two weeks has gone by and I have not received my renewed license. Looks like I will have to give the BATFE another call tomorrow.

Sent mine in in the middle of December.

They charged my credit card on 20th of December. I have not heard from them since.

Mine expires on 1 march 2011

2 weeks left on it.

Called BATFE again and was informed that my renewal was still not ready. The call taker said to expect a return phone call in the next 24 hours. I called this morning around 8:30.

I called yesterday and they told me mine is ready except to finish the background check. She said they are running well behind in the back ground checks but it was in the pile to be done.

I reminded her if it wasn't issued by March 1st then it would no longer be a renewal and would in fact be a new license.

She just said it would be done before that time.

In my conservation with the call taker I informed her that my license had expired on Feb.1. Since I had passed my license expiration date I asked if I would have to apply for a new license. Her answer was "no" it would be just a renewal. I have not received a call back from the BATFE, the 24 hour response period has passed. I will give them a few days and call again.

It would still be a renewal since you submitted the paperwork before your old license expired. You can still use your old license for 90 days after the expiration date. You can request an extension letter.

So if I let it lapse (my renewal is in April) I like the idea of throwing away my bound book....If I decide to re-up the license, say, a year from now, would that be a new license? Or a renewal of my now 1-year old expired license?

To be honest, I think I've only used my C&R to buy 3-4 guns. What I do like (a lot) is the dealer pricing I get from Midway & Brownells!

I still don't get why everyone is in such a hurry to get rid of their bound book.
