My relatively new National Postal Meter. Yes, it's import marked (can't really afford one that isn't). Anyway, I was excited to get a Postal Meter as in my opinion it's one of the more interesting and dare I say 'cool' makers.

Well, as you can see it's plenty beat up. In my imagination it fought in WWII and Korea. Oh if only guns could tell stories.
When I got the bugger it was filthy as all get out. And when I took it out of the stock the cavit was full of sludge and SAND. Needless to say, this feeds my fertile imagination.

The serial number in the stock was...I am told...done while lent to the Korean Military. Makes sense as many import marked M1 carbines came back from Korea.

I think the gun has what you'd call a patina of sorts. Flaming bomb with 1943 date on the barrel.

And the best...I took it to the range and it functions flawlessly.

Since I just got started in this C&R stuff I would love to get a hold of a pristine collectable. But I also look at these dinged up pieces of history like I used to look at my uncles telling me stories of WW2. One had frost bitten toes from one battle, the other lost his leg in another battle and yet another had his arms and legs scared from shrapnel. If these could only tell stories like my uncles I could listen for hours. But I would really like a clean one!:D

Beat up gear is kinda neat. I always wonder what stories my 91/30 could tell about the repaired stock splits (2 of 'em and small) and how they got there.
