I heard a guru on another forum opine that a collapsible stock would not work well on a 20" HBAR. What say you?

It will work. The only thing that may come into play is the buffer. But I doubt you'll have any problems.

There is no reason why that wouldn't work. Doesn't matter if the barrel is 7.5" or 26", you can put whatever stock on it that you want.

The only reason you don't see 6 pos stock with 20 inch barrels is because the ACE Skeleton Stock, A2 stock, and A1 stock tend to look cooler on 20 inch rifles. Personally I love the A2 stock on all my 20 inch builds. But if you're going for that Tacticool look use the ACE ARFX stock.

One issue is balance.

A short light collapsing stock is a good match with a short light barrel. With a long heavy HBAR, you may want a longer/Heavier stock to balance it both in weight and looks.

It works.... any stock works with any upper.... that's the "modular" AR design....

Here is my 6pos stock... with my 24" heavy bull barrel...

But then.... "work WELL" is all relative.... maybe he is talking about the "balancing" issue.... but then it all depends on how you want to use your rifle.... the military rifle Mark 12 SPR, feature a 18" barrel w/ quite a long OPS INC muzzle attachment, with a 6pos CRANE stock....
