Are these considered C and R? If so I just walk in there and give them 100 bucks for it and show them my ID and walk out with it. No FFL stuff?

nope you have to do the DROs, if you bought it from an indivual you can cash and carry

The exemption in California law that says 50+ year old C&R long guns don't have to be transfered through a California dealer only applies if neither party to the transaction is a California dealer. Big 5 is a California dealer.

If you buy any milsurp from an type 01 FFL (in this case Big 5)- you still have to DROS & wait 10 days.

IIRC, they could let you have it if you have an 03FFL and a COE. Whether or not they will is up to the store...

I could be wrong, but that's what I read somewhere...

Yes, they do... However, You need to go in early because they call the Feds to verify your 03 FFL is valid. The number is an East Coast office and they close early. You still pay a background check, sales tax, and safe affidavit or buy lock.

you still have to pay their fee because they are a 01ffl and that's what they get paid for . . . firearm transactions

Best bet--look here on CG and purchase a C & R from an individual.
