From the AG's press release (I heartily recommend that y'all subscribe)

Kamala D. Harris Takes Oath as California Attorney General

SACRAMENTO - Kamala D. Harris was sworn in as California Attorney General this afternoon in Sacramento, vowing in her remarks to ensure that state law is on the side of the people.

"I am deeply humbled by the trust you have placed in me and I will never forget it is you, the People of California, whom I serve," Harris said.

<snip>

Attorney General Harris served two terms as District Attorney in San Francisco. First elected in 2003, Harris drew on nearly 20 years of experience as a courtroom prosecutor to fight violent crime. During her tenure, the city increased conviction rates for serious and violent offenses, expanded services to victims of crime and their families, created new prosecution divisions focused on child assault, public integrity and environmental crimes, and launched effective programs to keep parolees from re-offending. To combat one of San Francisco's biggest challenges, gun violence, she created a gun specialist team and implemented tough gun charging policies.

We can only hope that she's as committed as Alison Merrilees.

I would be delighted if, as AG, she instituted something equivalent to Project Exile (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Exile), which basically took any felon-in-possession and sent them to Club Fed for 5 to 10. It was a great program because a) federal sentences are real sentences (there's no parole and convicts must serve 85% of their sentence) and b) it doesn't come out of state budgets.

However, she won't do that, because doing so would be an attack on her disadvantaged groups which should be given a free pass, because really they are the victims. And further, sending gang members to federal prison doesn't generate any fines that she can use.

I expect her instead to aggressively pursue middle class people who commit technical violations, because a) they are the guilty oppressors and b) going after them generates revenue for the state.

The only thing Harris will do for this state is unclog the prisons. I don't think she ever met a felon she didn't feel sorry for or want to give them another chance.

Can we charge her for violating her oath yet? She swore to up hold the constitution and yet she did everything in her power to throw the book at gun owners and gave known illegal gang member felons get out of jail free cards so they wouldn't be deported.

I don't think she ever met a felon she didn't feel sorry for or want to give them another chance.

That is a great way to put it.

The only people she really wants to go after are employed middle class taxpayers. Because, you know, they are the root of all evil and all the problems in this state in particular.

hmm...going after hardened criminals or after guy in random-town-CA with a BB that came loose....

Which do you think she will go after?

Charge her with anything you want.

She is no longer merely above the law.

She is the law.

I hope I turn out to be completely wrong, but I expect her tenure as CA AG, and probably later as Governor of CA, will be a very unhappy time for those of us who espouse the fullest and freest exercise of the right to keep and bear arms (concealed or otherwise) for purposes of lawful self-defense.

It sucks when mere ownership of guns draws more attention than illegal use of guns.

Sickening that such people can trample freedoms and rights and never be held accountable for such actions.

If she's found wrong the city/county/state pays the associated fees, fines or judgements and they move on to other avenues to achieve their purpose.

hmm...going after hardened criminals or after guy in random-town-CA with a BB that came loose....

Which do you think she will go after?

Exactly. The guy with a BB installed wrong will be able to pay fines, whereas the hardened criminal has zero assets, and is part of her constituency anyway.

I fully expect that law enforcement in this state is going to shift to going from pursuing lower-class zero-assets hardened criminal types to pursuing middle-class non-criminals, simply because middle class technical violators can afford to enter plea bargains which include fines, and they can pay them, and they don't take up unavailable jail space either. Also look for a lot more traffic enforcement, parking tickets, code enforcements, jaywalking tickets, etc. They'll enforce a jaywalking ticket on a middle class person, because he can afford to pay the $200 fine, while they will not enforce public drunkenness, public nuisance, disturbing the peace, and so on, against homeless people because homeless people can't pay their fines.

Because this behavior is the embodiment of cowards. Who chose to do so because aggressiveness toward our state's antagonists would entail real leadership and performance of duty. Rather than decree what citizens can and cannot have.

can't wait for NRA/SAF/CGN to make her look completely stupid. I think the days of "but what about the children" arguments are numbered seeing as we now have Heller and McDonald. Anti's are going to have to argue facts instead of just making things up and all the facts are on our side. With just a few more key victories, I doubt there is anything she can try to do that wont get challenged and shot down in a heart beat....

How can she go after something that complies with the law? The good thing is she can't make law only enforce law. With that being said, as an elected official she will not do well taking things to court that consistently get tossed. Even she isn't dumb enough to ruin her future runs for other offices. Even though i hope she is:D

I got this horrible flare up of heartburn this morning for no reason, I hadn't eaten any triggering foods, took my prilosec, things were going good.

Guess it was caused by Harris getting sworn in this morning.

Oh wait, I see on the news (busy day today) that Jerry was sworn in too.

That seals it, they caused by flare up of heartburn, feels like I was shot in the chest. I'm gonna SUE!!!!!!

The bullet button does not need to be OK'd by anyone! The courts affirmed that the use of a bullet as a tool is ok.

This would make the BB a part of a gun that makes that gun comply with CA law. Correct me if i am mistaken.

We should all be glad that the person coming after gun owners is as incompetent as her. I think there will be some good legal victories for gun rights if she does try to go after the bullet button or anything else that stupid.

The bad part is that she will be equally incompetent in the rest of her duties.

However, hearing her speak makes me ill.

oh man I just took one look at her priorities, some of that translated means:
all it is going to take to totally ruin a mans life is one fraudulent phone call to the cops from a guys wife or GF and make a false complaint. As if it isn't a travesty of justice now--geez.

Anything to prevent her from sending DOJ agents to shooting ranges, asserting they observed some sort of "illegal" behavior taking place and making life difficult for the owners and shooters? I could see her doing something like that -we're a much easier to locate and safer to deal with than bad boys.

make it a $300.00 fine they could clean up. We can rest well knowing it will indeed be those that are collectable will be targeted. But, man all that femi nazi talk is spooky, I really feel for all the guys in the family court system--not good.

Funny how she says reasonable restrictions need to be allowed when they clearly are related to keeping her community safe. And yet there is absolutely no evidence of that, beyond her claiming it's "common sense." Nothing but garbage propaganda.

I love the "Get Guns off The Street" poster on podium she is using in her speech. Like bangers and other scrotes care about whether being "tooled up" is legal or not. That kind of crap is only directed at one group of people, and it sure isn't the scumbags.
