I took my new Glock 19 out to the range this week for its maiden voyage. I have shot plenty of Glocks over the years and was never taken with them so this is my first one in over 20 years of handgun ownership. Verdict: I LIKE IT! I still love my HKs and Sigs but I'm really glad I added this Glock to the collection.

It has a Ghost 3.5# connector, polishing, and a Vickers magazine release. The trigger is great. I want to do a side-by-side comparison with the stock G19 trigger to really get the effect but I must say that I like the 3.5#. It is noticeably lighter than stock and one must take extra care with this trigger if one is used to the stock feel. I can understand why some think the 3.5# is too light. I regularly shoot my 1911 so I understand a light trigger.

I haven't shot a Glock in quite some time so it was a bit of an adjustment but I was pretty quickly getting the feel for it. I cannot shoot slowly and shoot more combat style so I only ran a couple dozen rounds slowly before speeding things up. At 21 feet I was able to put double taps from the guard position consistently in the orange on a B27 target. I had a couple of flyers as I was getting used to the reset on the trigger though. My range has programmable targets so I was able to then program the targets to turn and expose for 3 seconds then turn away for 2 seconds, for 4 repetitions. Again, I shot double taps from the guard position. I'm happy if I can just keep my rounds in the orange and I was able to do that.

The gun is great. I really enjoyed shooting it and perhaps because I've been shooting almost exclusively .45ACP, the 9mm felt so easy to shoot. I'm not saying I'm a hot shot but this gun can make me look good. I don't think that I will wind up with a collection of Glocks but I can see why so many of you guys love them.

Here is some Glock porn of my G19 with my new-to-me TLR-2 that I got today from a fellow Calgunner. These are not my best work. I was just messing around with the camera tonight and felt the need to post some gun porn. I added another shot that is mandatory for any Glock photo post. :D

LOL at the panda bear.

Glad you like your GLOCK, I've loved mine since I got it and after learning how to shoot it I've gotten quite a bit more accurate.

Have you shot it with the TLR on it? I have a knock off version and got what I paid for. It lights up great but every shot shuts it off LoL!!! Interested if the switch is a bit more "positive" on.

Great gun BTW I only own Glocks and love any Glock porn I can get.:43:

I have a 3.5# on my Glock 20, but I really didn't like it on my G19. For some reason the stock 5.5 felt much better on the 19.

Surely the G19 is by far one of the best Glocks made, and one of the best handguns overall produced. It's balance and feel is just awesome. Good choice!

What is the "guard" postiion? Is that like a low-ready?

It's a matter of terminology as some attribute different meanings to "guard" position but for me, it is sort of like low ready for Weaver stance. I have been trying out going back to the isosceles stance so the gun is brought down from the isosceles firing position and elbows tuck against the body. The gun held closer to the body and your elbows come in to an always consistent position. From there, you simply have to extend outwards somewhat aggressively, to be in your firing position. It's basically holding the gun out in mounted firing position in an isosceles stance and pulling your arms/elbows in to you body. I feel more in control of the weapon and solid. If a threat presents, I assume my firing stance while pushing the gun out in front. The time this takes is very quick.

The Weaver version is sometimes referred to as "low ready" but also as when you are in a Weaver shooting position and you hold the gun as if shooting but bring your arms in until your strong arm is touching your body and using the body as support rather than the traditional low ready where your arms are straightened out but the gun is pointed at a 45 degree angle towards the ground.

As you can imagine, there are many schools of thought in these techniques and different definitions for terms. For me, I am liking what I do because I feel like I have a more stable platform to shoot from, with the gun centered I can turn/pivot and get my gun on target without having to contort my body, and if one is wearing body armor, the isosceles stance is believed to offer more protection than the Weaver that exposes the side of the body where there is less protection from the armor.

My main goal is to practice combat/self-defense proficiency. I carry a gun regularly so I feel it is my responsibility as well as just plain smart. I make sure I practice without (too much) cheating so that is one reason I practice bringing the gun up and acquiring the sights quickly and why I practice with moving targets with time pressure.

Have you shot it with the TLR on it? I have a knock off version and got what I paid for. It lights up great but every shot shuts it off LoL!!! Interested if the switch is a bit more "positive" on.

I haven't tried the TLR on it yet. I just got it yesterday but I will get out as soon as possible. The switch feels positive and so does my M3X that I have shot with on a pistol. I think your light was shutting off because it's not shock isolated.

Its hard to find a G19 on the calguns marketplace. Everybody keeps theirs. Last week i found and bought a G23 w/ 4 mags owned less than a month and 300 rounds for $450. I plan on getting the Lone Wolf 9mm Conversion barrel for it. I'll essentially have a g19 then...with a rediculous looking cartoon wolf on the top of the barrel.

Lone Wolf has something called "Blindmarking".

I sold my Glock 19 a few months back to fund a last minute necessity. I miss it. I think a Glock 17 is on the soon to be purchased list. But I am going to have to wait 29 days, I started the DROS on a 1911 yesterday.

I have a tlr-3 on a glock 21 and have had no issues with the light turning off. Shouldn't be an issue with the 17 or 19 but I plan to go to a night shoot to try my new 17 out

They are Winchester Ranger 127 grain SXT +P+ (RA9SXTP). Snappy little things. ;)

Congrats, I have the same set up on my G19. Glock's pretty much all look the same, but as soon as you have one, you want them all. Well maybe not the 45 GAP models :hide:
