View Full Version : Bobtailing a Glock

I'm curious. Has anyone bobtailed a compact Glock? (i.e. 19/23)

I've seen a photo or two online, but never one in person. Considering how it makes a 1911 feel (I actually like it), I am curious what it would do to a Glock.

Anyone have any input?

Thx!

bobtail is where the bottom back edge of the magwell is chopped, http://www.gunblast.com/DanWesson-CommanderClassic.htm
as oppossed to the beavertail grip mod at the top of the grip.

Nope, I meant actual bobtail:

Seems like it would help with concealability with the compacts, and I am wondering how much it would just generally change the feel.

Thanks for the link. I actually saw that thread.

That thread is talking about something else though....cutting down the length of the grip to accept compact mags. What I am talking about is chamferring the lower rear of the frame like a Kobra Carry (From Ed Brown's site):

I thought that was called a "Beaver-Tail"

Chopping a full size down to accept compact mags isn't a bad idea. Bob-tailing or going with a full chop-down. I have been reading a bit about this in my Massad Ayoob books. Cutting down a G22 to accept G23 mags give you better concealability, but also give you longer sight radius, and that extra velocity to help those HP's expand.

I like GLOCKs, but this one is just an ugly betty all the way.

Glocks aren't about "looking good".

Anyone have or shot a bobbed Glock?
