I owned a PT-92 at one time. There's nothing wrong with them as Taurus has seemed incapable of screwing up Beretta's proven design. The one I had was plain blue with OEM wood panels and it shot 100% and with plenty of accuracy.

If you want to go pimp though.... well, who are we to argue? :D

This is my next gun. I love these because you get the accuracy and reliability of a beretta with the option of condition one carry. Not real expensive either.

In all serious the pt92 is a very good gun, I love mine but mine is all black. Accurate as balls and reliable as hell, I would trust my life with it although a lot of people bash Taurus but maybe that's the poly guns?

AFAIK the PT92 and the PT911 series are the exceptions to this rule...

My luck has been bad with every Taurus I've owned... except the PT-92 I mentioned above which was nails.

Taurus QC is known for being a bit lax from time to time. :D

Get it. I'd like to see someone tell a USMC Sniper that his weapon is funny looking. Bet that would be the last thing he says.

PS,
Thanks for your service.

Actually they improved the design, they took the safety/decocker off the slide and put it on the frame were it belongs.

If it rocks you, rock it.

Taurus did not improve the design. Beretta designed the gun initially with a frame mounted safety. Taurus was sold the rights and equipment for the old pistol design.

I personally prefer the frame mounted safety for condition 1 carry.

First model Beretta 92 w/ frame mounted safety and stepped slide,

Next edition 92 w/ frame safety, before the 92s that had the slide mounted safety.

I stand corrected, Beretta screwed up their own design and Taurus was smart enough not to change it.

I could agree.
Beretta made the change for the Military trials.

one note, if you don't want a taurus 92 with a rail on it, you're out of luck. taurus does not make those frames anymore. all the new ones come with a rail. better check where you're buying it from to be sure what they have in stock.

Its getting to wear finding a handgun without a rail is not that easy.

I wonder when Taurus QC hit rock bottom. I have an old pre-ban High Cap Taurus in stainless and it has always been a rock solid pistol. It is getting on in years and is as solid and as nice looking as day one. Its been a tack driver since day one and has never jammed or had any other feed/ejection/misfire issues, ever.

I noticed that Buds was selling a Taurus as police trade in and I had never seen that type of rail design before. Looked very recent.

Why would he want a Beretta when he already has 3 CZ75's.......why get that "plain looking matte stainless everyone already has a" Beretta, when he could win the 2011-2015 Player's Ball with just the Taurus and a Brimmed Hat with a feather.....no mink boa, pimp suit, or platforms necessary.....:D:43:.

I already have 2 XDs,3 CZ75s and tec 9...
PT92 would be a range hoe-stroll only gun :p

Fixed it for ya!!! :43:

I owned a PT-92, but I'm no pimp. It was matte black with hogue rubber grips. As accurate/precise as it was reliable. The only reason I sold it was to save money for the 5" 9mm I really want(M&P9L). I'm sure you'll be happy with it though, especially if you're hands are larger than mine. I always felt like the grip was too large, but it could have been a mental thing I went through after being spoiled by the ergonomics of M&P's......It wasn't like holding a Glock, but it wasn't for me. I, actually, like the grip on the CZ's better than the Beretta/Taurus 92 series.

I think it was when they started really expanding their line up. They have so many different guns now, but their Beretta and 1911 copy's seem solid.

That's pretty funny....

And, as mentioned above, the PT 92 has the FRAME MOUNTED safety, where it belongs, NOT ON THE FREAKING SLIDE, where it can disable the pistol by the simple act of racking the slide.

The M92 is a great gun, Taurus OR Beretta. But I actually have to give Taurus the edge on this one. They even got the magazine release in the right location, something the frame-safety Beretta failed to do.

Cheers,
Longbow

I say go for it. Who cares if it's flashy - if it appeals to YOU, that's all that matters.

I wish the Taurus series of Beretta clones like this in .40 was still listed. I'd like a regular Pt101 in stainless but would take any version in .40 including the pimp one. I have a Star done like this from factory without the gold. I have a Pt92 I got with some wear and no mags but it was $200 in 2005. No problems with it. Like the safeties much better than a Beretta.
