What other online retailers are there besides Bud's?

Who's got the best prices, who's got the best service?

Looking for Ca legal handgun, probably Springfield 1911.

it's hard to beat buds as far as prices, but remember you have to factor in how much your ffl will charge you for the transfer.

i've dealt with buds a few times and have had no problems

I have dealt with abel ammo, bought a beretta shotgun from them a couple of years ago. Currently have a kimber 1911 on order with them, appears it is going to be a long wait. I looked for some Sringfields there but no luck . Did a quick search at bud's, they don't have much in stock either.

budsgunshop.com's prices are hard to beat, even if ffl transfer + tax added in.

I've spent my online gun buying about 50/50 between gunbroker and auctionarms. Bud's prices are too steep for me, apart from a rare special deal.

If you're not in a hurry, you can wait until the right gun comes up without many bids, and get a total steal. Examples:

Decent Mossberg 500 for under $100
Like new NEF 12 ga Pardner for $30
S&W 910 in great shape for $220

As for service, both sites manage their sellers very well, but the usual online auction cautions apply.

Look at these 3 sites:
budsgunshop.com
impactguns.com
handgundirect.com

My most recent purchase is a SW revolver w/ insight laser, Buds is selling them for $499 (cash price). It is a better deal at impact which was selling them for $423.99 + $20 shipping so I bought it there. Now the price got even better and it dropped to $409.99 + $20 shipping.

For comparison:

budsgunshop. but you do have to pay MO (no CC) to maximize the savings. then find a FFL with decent transfer prices, and hopefully not charge you tax too (some have).

J&G Sales (http://www.jgsales.com/) is good for C&R and other Surplus guns. They're in AZ so shipping is fast and cheep.

Hope this is not straying off topic. What is the procedure for online buying of a new gun?
Once you find a willing ffl... (trying to find one in N. Orange county)
Do we have to wait ten days after it is delivered for pick up?
Are we responsible for CA sales tax?

Yes and yes. You should probably notify the receiving ffl beforehand so they know what's coming. When it arrives, go fill out the paperwork, pay sales tax, and wait ten days.

Another plug for Gallery of Guns. No transfer fees since the ffls receive your order much like a stocking order. They make a small percentage on the sale but it really is the least hassle as far as ordering on line is concerned, IMO.

Take care,
Dave

Bookmarked that puppy!

Deals posted by users, so you get the results of other folks shopping efforts. Nice.
(If you insist on buying new, of course.)

Great tip. These folks are great to deal with. California friendly, good inventory and as stated, just across the border so shipping is is quicker and cheaper.

JetGuns.com in TN consistently beats buds on prices and they don't require a MO.

XD 9mm for 430
S&W M&P for 450

No tax and no shipping costs.
