I got a Ruger 10/22 for xmas and i was looking it over and i think there might be a defect with the stock and where the plastic butt piece come together. The 2 aren't flush. The stock is a little higher than the plastic butt piece. Is this normal? Also where should i lube or oil? What should i do to it be4 i shoot it besides mount a scope lol

It's not a "defect". It's just "fit and finish". Welcome to the new Ruger QC.

Just looked at my like new 1980's 10-22 and it has about half as much reveal as your's but, it's no where near flush. I'm willing to bet that your's is pretty normal for current production.

By the time you are done with it you'll buy a new stock, replace the barrel, swap out the trigger group for an upgrade, tune the bolt, enhance the optics and buy assorted accoutrements anyway. Welcome to 10/22 world...

I thought the "major defect" with 10/22's was that they seem to go through .22LR ammo like water from a faucet... ;)

Not always. I have ONE that is still bone stock after +25 years. Of course, I have others that aren't.

Your fine
as others have mentioned the older rugers are being more sought after seeing the problems this current generation is having
I have a 10-22 made in 1974 which is a very fun rifle

Spend some time in the rimfire forum here and visit www.rimfirecentral.com you'll get hooked, trust me. I've built up eleven 10/22s, it's a sickness

well when i went to the store to pick out a scope i looked at the other 10/22's and they all have that so i might have a pretty good excuse to upgrade the stock to a prettier wood stock

I want to keep this one as stock as possible since i got it from my mom. But i'll definitely be getting another one to really trick it out :36:
