the serial is in the 97K range, any Idea when it was made?

Looks to be a Colt's New Service.

A look at proofhouse.com shows that S/N as ca. 1904 production. By the pictures furnished it appears to be a reblue.

.41 Long Colt ammo is obsolete, therefore, scarce and expensive. Reloading would be an economical option.

It is a Colt 1892 that has been reblued and had replacement walnut grips installed. The original grips were a type of early plastic with 'Colt' molded into them. It was made sometime in 1899. It will be a fun revolver to reload for and to shoot! Great price.
