Is this thing legal in CA?? Looks pretty hot... it fits on a standard AR lower without mod!! Uses mag well as ejection port. Pretty COOL!

Would be legal with no pistol grip and a 10rd magazine...

Where is the mag located if the mag well serves as the ejection port ?

On the upper receiver, riding horizontal with the barrel assembly like a FN-P90.

Whats to stop someone from attaching a standard barreled upper receiver and tossing in a standard mag ?

This in my opinion is the only thing that would make it illegal unless the lower that is used is somehow modified so it cannot accept a magazine into the mag well.
This is a question for the DOJ on Aug16th. If we can proof that a legit 10 round magazine fed semi auto rifle can be made with the lower they will have to address the issue.:)

rhineland is supposedly making a rifle that takes the 5.7 round using the pistol mags. and supposedly it should be cali legal.

on the other hand the FN website does state that a 10rd mag is available where necessary for the p90, so that upper MAY be available to us.

As pictured, it would be a no-go.

You would need to remove the pistol grip, the flash hider, and put a fixed stock on it. Then I think it would be OK with 10 round mags as long as the barrel is at least 16 inches.

this is one where the SRB comes in handy.:) never shot the rifle but the pistol has very little recoil so im guessing that this may be a fun little item.

Yeah, it's all fine and dandy looking...

But I'd want to read a lot of reviews from owners before even considering it... it is Rhineland Arms we're talking about. Nice guys, but their R22 is nothing but problems...

I havent had any problems w/ my R22 but one of my Eagle highcaps dont work in it.

The P90 does have 10 rounders, CWS has them for sale on the website.

It wont be fun because they magazine is spendy? The ammo is around 40 cents a peice and Im guessing that upper will run more than $600.

If you already shoot the 5.7x28 then this is a neat setup but it isnt a SKS.

No ejection port then.

What that single shot lower would be good with is a belt fed AR upper.

And the only 5.56 belt fed upper I know of is the Ares. And they have been in "testing stages" for over 4 years now.

Actually the upper would consider as the receiver correct? IIRC, it is the part that can accept the magazine is the receiver, which must be registered.

No I do not believe so. Can you show anything to back that up?

With AR series rifles and the modified uppers, like that AR57 and the Shrike, the lower receiver is still the part with the serial number.

in the case of the single shot upper, It cannot accept a mag so does it take a FFL to purchase that item ?

Yes, it is the registered part.

The upper (regardless of it being a belt fed) is not considered a firearm and hence no registration.

rhineland has said that the kali-legal rifle is having problems.

They need to make one that takes regular M16 mags from the side that feeds into the upper receiver. This way we don't need no stinkin pistol grip.
