Maybe my brain is a little fuzzy from lack of sleep but I can't seem to noggin this through. If they consider the lower receiver to "be the gun", does it need to be locked up as though it was a completed gun? Could you drive around with a stripped lower, walk down the street with it, walk into a courthouse or on to a schoolyard with it in your hand? Or what if it was "concealed" under your clothes?

Mebbe I just need more sleep.

It is considered a long gun so while you don't have to have it locked, I wouldn't take it to a courthouse or school or anywhere else that you wouldn't take a complete rifle.

Hmmm! You could do all the above and let us know how it go's ;)

Never really thought about carrying a lower around lol.

Is this a trick question? I wonder why an FFL requires a gun lock (receipt dated within the 30 days of pick up) when receiving any firearm including a stripped OLL?

I wear my OLL around my neck on a gold chain.

It does go quite well with the Mercedes symbol.

You only need to have a lock or a gun safe to pick up a firearm from a store. You aren't required to ever use the trigger lock. You can throw it away as soon as you walk out the door....

Because it is state law unless you own an "approved" DOJ gun safe.
