Well some had questions as to if it was ok in CA because of it's "curio & relic eligible" status. Well it arrived at my local FFL today so that's a yes.

Did a little once over before the DROS and looks like a VG+, but so covered in cosmo that might be an unissued under all that gunk.

I got one at the SAR show a couple weekends ago. Just under $220 OTD. Sweet little shooters!

Congrats on yours!

Yeah I know. Welcome to Southern California where everything costs more. Most of the time just happy enough to even be able to get a surplus gun that is exempt from our dumb @$$ roster.

Is the slide lock/safety an add-on or is that the way the Yugo Toks come from the factory? The safety that they put on the Romanian and Polish Toks looks so ugly.

All signs point to it being an add on, but very well done.

Okay I picked it up today:D Now time for cosmoline removal. I have all ways just used mineral spirits on all my mil-surps. Has anyone used this method as well? My only concern is the plastic grip panels cause i usually just field strip and toss in a disposable turkey pan.

Old pot, boiling water. Disassemble. Boil metal parts for 15 min, then remove and wipe down with a paper towel. The hot metal will dry fast. Re-oil. Reassemble. Make sure your plastic grips stay out of the pot :)

take the grips off, there are turning levers inside and you can reach then by the magazine well. the cut out for the safety needs a bit of relieving so it won't impair the safety lever but otherwise it's simple. the firing pin is the only pain. some remove it other use spry cleaner blasted through the breach face. if you submerge the slide you can pump the pin cavity clean by pushing on the rear of the firing pin while submerging the slide till all the gunk is pumped out then follow with compressed air. wd40 is a good cutting agent to use to dissolve the muck in the firing pin hole. if you do remove the FP you will have fits replacing it, i've done it both ways, in place and removal so it's a 50/50 thing. you can also leave the trigger group in or remove it, i remove it all it's so simple after the grips are removed. as i recall the right grip comes off first and a small jewelers file can be used to clean up the inside grip corners to get them to fit back on. they are pressed flush while turning the locking wings. you won't really get it clean till the second stripping and it won't cycle smoothly till the third cleaning after shooting.

good luck.

Thanks All. The grips sound complicated but that's the fun of it.

But his FFL charges tax. A 10% tax on a $200 gun is $20, close to wiping out the savings. A 10% tax on a $1500 gun is a lot more than what I'm willing to fork over to the morons in the government.

Who doesn't pay tax on a new retail item? Your post has no valid point.

Of course. My mistake. I would never short change our wonderful government for providing all these free services...

What about cleaning with denatured alcohol has anyone had success with it?

I soaked mine in hot water for a while with occasional agitation. Then I used a degreaser to get the cosmo off and then finished it up with RemOil or CLP. There's cosmo everywhere so you really have to scrub the piece parts.

OK I used 3M Citrus based spray cleaner and it melted the Cosmoline easily. After close inspection looks new unissued. I'm stoked!

Why must you politicize this post ? There is another board for that.

Joey that is a great photo.

So if I get my C&R FFL, and am visiting friends in Arizona, can I legally go by J&G and buy one of these and bring it back into California with me?

Yes buy all you want, just fill out this form and send in the fees when you get back to CA. http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/forms/pdf/curioapp.pdf

Did you fire that hot subgun ammo on clips out of it? No probs or signs of pressure? Yeah Yugo Toks come quite covered in cosmoline. Removing Tokarev firing pins is a pain.

The lanyard is from my Bulgarian Makarov. I thought it matches the Tok quite nicely.
