Both Camp Roberts and Fort Hunter Ligget offer decent hunting for various wild game, subject to availability based on training requirements. There are a few steps to go through, but nothing outlandish, and the fee isn't really cheap but certainly bearable.

Every time I've checked out one of those hunting sites with the really snazzy, colorful webpage, it turns out to be high fence hunting. If I want to shoot a pig or a goat in the barnyard I can stay home and do it.

I have been to Big Horn, the owners were really cool, however it is elementary. Its like shooting animals at a farm or petting zoo. Best be done from far away for any type of challenge. Hunt Cedar Canyon was a good hunt as well. They are in Techapi.

Anyone else have any opinions on this Bighorn Canyon Ranch place. I looked up the prices to hunt some of the exotic rams and goats the place has to offer. I couldnt believe how cheep it was. Only $350. That almost sounds too good to be true. What's the catch?

Fort Hunter Ligget is fairly popular in this area (SF Bay area).

You should also look into the Tejon Ranch...supposed to be spectacular.
